Few times have I gotten so mad watching a fight especially when not a fan o either fighter. 3 rounds, 3 weak guillotine attempts 3 Tim's flat out giving ookami top position. How do you just throw away a fight like that for such a low percentage submission.
Belcher is a risk taker. Sometimes it pays off, and sometimes not. And a guillotine is not a low percentage submission in itself. More like Okami is notoriously hard to sub.
okami basically lured him right into the muck and mire. okami didn't give a shit whether he ended up in a bad spot as long as the fight ended up on the ground (ie belcher often ended up on top after the trips but the point was it was the ground where okami wanted to be and belcher did not necessarily want to be). belcher is a finisher. he's looking for his way to end the fight and because okami continually closed the gap on him and was forcing the issue with the takedowns, he could not really beat him standing where his best chance of doing damage was. so instead he tried the guillotines. ill-conceived on a guy with okami's defense but it is what it is.
This is true. Belcher should have tried to keep it standing and not use those damn kicks. Okami is a strong dude and if Belcher paid attention to his 1st fight (which in an interview he said he didn't) he would have fared better.
You called him Allen and Tim. I was a little disappointed in Belcher, but much more so in Okami. The guy simply did not attack in mount and half guard for nearly 3 minutes. Most boring fighter on the planet.
I remember a time when people on here said Nate the greats corner fucked him up by telling him To ditch the guillotines on okami.
Great post thanks for your insight, exactly what I was looking for. To save on post count I spelled his name wrong but whatever you get the point sometimes people spell Jon with a h no big deal. I also mean to put 3 times not 3 Tim's. I'm aware his name isn't Tim lol
yeah Belcher seemed most successful in the stand up and I believe even dropped Okami at one point but saying and doing is easier said than done
I would have thought he would try to avoid Okami's clinch and the cage and just out work him standing up. Very disappointing to see Belcher lose
Those guillotines put him in a bad position every time he went for them. Huge mistake & it made him look one dimensional.
Hes just overrated, he had nothing for Okami. The ref even felt bad for him so he stood them up prematurely.
