I was watching LaVerne Clark vs Fabiano Iha from UFC 20 and wow what a shitty stoppage. Clark opens up a huge cut on Iha, Iha goes for a leg lock and has Clark in trouble. Mario Yamasaki stops the action while Iha is actively going for a submission, only for Iha to lose by doctor stoppage due to the cut. It was Yamasaki's first time working a UFC event, but damn what a crappy stoppage. Any other lesser known bad stoppages?
first fight yeah, but im sure the ref thought he verbally tapped but i could be wrong. Baroni did try and punch the ref after it
Brown vs Sell is widely regarded as the worst. Another terrible, awful, really really bad non-stop was Warren vs Curran I think it was? Someone should've been fired for that one; I'm pretty sure Warren lost 10 years off his life there. The Saku one where he threw a fit and got a rematch imo doens't count, it was a different era that could practically be considered another sport, and besides, they took a mulligan. IMO the Koscheck vs Thiago stoppage was dogshit
Ortiz vs Metzger one was a bad stoppage. Ortiz was delivering knees to stop the fight when the ref intervened to get some cuts checked then restarted them in a neutral position. Tito shot in and got choked out.
What, where Kos' eyes rolled into the back of head, then he sat up after the stoppage looking like he didn't know what his own name was, never mind what had just happened?
Matt Brown v.s. Pete Sell was a horrible stoppage. Matt Brown was literally yelling at the ref to stop the fight after he was beating Sell into a coma. The fight could have been stopped WAYYYY sooner.
KOS & Thiago was a great stoppage IMO. KOS was sitting on his ass looking off into another universe when it was stopped.
kos/thiago still kinda bothers me. in his defense he was sitting up and ready to go, not like he was laid out flat. i would have like to see it go on a bit more.. i mean, he wasnt *out* cain vs rothwell.. rothwell was sitting up in transit to standing up and the fight was called.
