Bad management from Maia and his team recently

What are you reading exactly? Maia's management, which he is a part of, is making bad decisions. I'm blaming all of them that are involved. I'm not arguing about his skill set with you; I'm arguing that those involved with excepting the fights under those circumstances made shitty decisions.

OMG So do you think they put a gun to his head or something? lol He was not forced to take any of those fights is what i am exactly saying!

He is the most one dimensional fighter in the UFC that's why he keeps losing fights..Not because of managment..

Nope, but he shouldn't have taken the Masvidal match a month before the title fight. He was the only logical contender at the time before that fight—the Masvidal fight was a farce that was pushed on him by the ufc in hopes that MAsvidal would take maia out of the title equation. He could have refused that fight and he still would have been the only logical contender. He also shouldn't have faced Usman on short notice. I admire him for it, but I just think his team could have made smarter career choices lately.
He's a grown ass man who makes his the final decision on everything he does. He's not getting any younger.

He's probably just trying to make some money as quickly as possible before he retires.

Maia is aware he's on his way out

Time to fight down the ranking against someone he can actually takedown a submit

OMG so you think that matters? I don't care under what circumstances a decision was made—it doesn't change the fact that I think they were poor decisions. Seriously, how is this difficult for you to follow?

That doesn't change the fact that I think it was bad decisions to take those fights at those times. Again, people are reading this as if I'm blaming Maia's Management, but maia is a part of his management—I'm not absolving Maia from blame here. I'm saying the people around him and him himself made some bad decisions lately.

Bisping fighting Gastelum on two weeks notice just after being choked unconcious was a poor decision.

Maia getting a main event fight after seven months off was not.

I’m pretty sure his bank account isn’t bad from taking this fight. It’s not like he’s taking significant damage with all these fights either

They're not bad decisions, he doesn't have time to sit and wait or pick and choose at 40. It's easy to to criticize his decisions after the fact but at the end of the day, if he's confident in his abilities then why not go out there and fight.

It was a bad idea to let 40 year old Maia fight Masvidal, Woodley, and covington back to back to back all within a 6 month timespan, AND Then let him fight Usman on a few weeks notice. Very, very bad management if you ask me.

As a huge maia fan, I hope he retires, but if he doesn't retire, then he better get some rest and a proper fucking camp for his last fight.
How do you know him taking these fights has anything to do with hes management? The managment is employed by the fighter and can only voice their opinion, but the fighter always has the final say. And how can Maia get an onther chance at the title if hes turning down fights?

TS is getting REKT in this thread.

UFC will let Maia fight out his current contract and let prospects build name off him

Maia is an old school head, hell fight anybody.

Showing that he can still get in the cage with top talent in his without getting KTFO... So props to him.

Maia's management fucked up in not keeping him away from high level wrestlers. They are clearly his kryptonite. He went on a 7 fight win streak by staying away from wrestlers. Should've pushed for that Darren Till fight instead. Or even Wonderboy. A win over Wonderboy would've had him right back in title contention.

lol, they renewed his contract because he took this fight, how you can call it "bad management",
he said he is thinking about leaving fight buisness soon, probably next year (or even this year) he gonna leave this sport.

Maia should retire to the rather lucrative world of $100 a head BJJ seminars.

He had a great ufc run.

There's no reasoning with people who deal in simplistic absolutes. A lot of people, not just in this forum, think that the only way you can wield substantial influence is pointing a gun on someone's head.

I don't mind him facing the people he did, they were all winnable fights barring Woodley. However, I wish he would've given himself more time for his preparation.
