It seems that every movies centered around an “end of the world” type scenario always features similar plots. It also seems like the characters always make the same mistakes.

What will you do differently when the zombies rise due to an STD mutation that will likely originate from a Sherdogger?

Classic mistakes that keep recurring:

1-Trying to get to a city. Stay the hell away from big centers
2-Trusting a selfish asswipe. He’s the guy who eventually gets everyone killed
3-wasting ammo.

What’s your list?

The biggest mistake everyone in zombie movies makes is clearly not using leather and protective equipment to prevent bites and scratches.

Every single person should be walking around in long sleeves, leathers/reinforced fabrics that can't be bitten through. Any gaps should be duct taped shut. A full face helmet like motorcycle or hockey should be worn while running around. Work/motorcycle gloves should be worn. Tall boots should be worn. Padded gear like catchers shin pads and stuff should be worn.

It's just really simple to wear enough stuff so that any zombie that grabs you can't bite through your stuff.

Great points. Also, trade in that small knife for something bigger.

Here’s a big mistake in zombie movies.

The zombies are always deteriorating. They’re dead, so logically they are decomposing, right? Realistically, the problem would be gone rather quickly.

If they’re in such a state of decomposition, they would try to bite you only to have their teeth fall out. Eventually they’ll just become a pile of bones.

It really wouldn’t take long either especially because of the exposure their dead flesh is going through, you know?

Just wait a few months and you should be fucking fine. Just being realistic about it.

Look at the first episode of TWD. That one zombie crawling around at Rick is in a serious state of decomposition and this is the first episode.

But years down the line the other zombies are somehow still walking around and still have some skin, muscle, etc.

Doesn’t make sense at all.

Zombies would truly not be an issue for us. Just wait a little and they’re gonna be bones. They’re ‘undead’ but that still means they’re dead.

Their bodies would fall apart just like a normal human because technically that’s what they are, right?

Most zombie stuff is fuckin dumb anyway. Werewolves are scarier. Imagine if we had those running around.

EDIT: and how then fuck does the military, all law enforcement, etc, die from the zombies? But random untrained idiots survive for years and kill like hundreds of them. One of the dumbest things to ever happen in zombie movies is this shit. It would be easy work for us to take out the zombies.

In these movies they almost always use zero tactics. Just design your compound in a way that if you get attacked, you can funnel them in into a Spartan phalanx or a truck with spikes or something.

The biggest problem that happens in these movies is that somehow, civilization falls apart overnight. No one person is a doctor, farmer, tactician, understands logistics, engineer, understands radio and computer-based communications/information gathering, how to lead/organize people, and all the other shit you need to do to survive. But yeah, let’s band together in groups of about 10 people to take on thousands of zombies. Strong move... There’s a reason we live in a society today.

Seems also that people forget wehre food comes from. They take lots of risks entering houses searching for a few cans, when there millions of acres of farmland some with crops still in the field. Find a farmhouse, clear it and start sustaining yourself. It will take time, but it’s better than live your life looking for a dwindling supply of non perishables.

Waste gas, driving or using gas powered tools to fight back.

Not wearing padding, or just wearing a ballistic vest, as if the majority of the bites were at the chest.

Using swords and handguns, I've always thought that a staff or a spear would be easier to master, less likely to mess up, and much more effective. Handguns should be saved for food procurement.

Staying in the same place until the last moment, instead of planning in advance and acting in consequence.

Entering swamps, why? No one wants to enter a swamp even when there's no zombies. In shows and movies, they go always through the swamp, walk slow and get ambushed by a horse of zombies in the best case scenario, or eaten by a crocodile in the worst.

What happens when the zombies are craving human flesh/brains, yet are still intelligent enough to carry firearms and use them like your ordinary human being?

Back in the days zombies used to be slow moving and dumb, yet relentless and somewhat hard to kill. Clearly the zombies of today are able to move a lot faster, even run faster than most humans. What you gonna do to protect yourself then?

Fact is: There's no way to protect yourself from zombies, except from keep telling yourself they don't exist.

Yeah armor would be fairly easy to improvise. Sheet metal is readily accessible as is steel wire. Go medieval and make some chain mail or plate stuck to a heavy leather jacket. Wear some motorcycle boots and gloves.

Never understood everyone running around in jeans and a tshirt.

Step one, raid an Acadamy etc if you don’t have access to the following

Boots, snake leggings and snake guards.

Some type of helmet /face mask. A fucking Walmart paint ball mask is better than nothing.

Get to the country, farm etc, like stated above.

Build a Moat around the perimeter once you have cleared what’s there.

That’s step fucking one. In twd at the prison, there were fences etc.

If they had built a deep wide moat around it with a draw bridge shit would have been fine.

Light there asses on fire every so often so they don’t fill up with bodies and they walk across the bodies.

No one can ram your fence if you’ve dug out a 40’ wide, 40’ deep moat around the perimeter. (Trench might be a better word, don’t want it full of water so makes it harder to pass)

Make it like a medival castle, those fucks obviously had it down.

Don’t let Trojan horses come and it’s all good.

As time goes buy build more, with more layers of draw bridges , and fencing and guard towers.

Start fucking farming, grow shit, learn to live off the land like out ancestors did.

What’s fucked up is with all out technology and improvements, in mideval times people would have been better prepared to fight this shit off.

Fuck MAYBE that’s what all the castles were for and why they were stone, zombies get inside the castle and over run it somehow.

Someone dies and turns inside, however it happens?

Leave castle, light on fire. Stone stays standing, go back in when it’s sterile. Rinse , repeat lol.

I think the biggest mistake is they try to go off on their own instead of banning together, and forming an army of sorts. There is safety in numbers. Our ancestors before guns, and steel, banned together and formed tribes. That is how we survived, through teamwork.

.

Edges and bullets are wasted on slow moving zombies. You just need to bash in the skull. A carpenters hammer, or little league baseball bat is plenty enough.

If it like WWZ zombies that run like Devin hester sure you can use gun, or get shield form a shield wall, and just bash face with blunt object.

The best move is get a boat and get to an island which has what it takes to sustain you. Even if you eventually have to return to a bigger landmass for supplies, an island is the perfect home base. I know exactly where I'd take my family if the zombie apocalypse happened. The difficult part would be getting there.

I honestly can't enjoy horror movies any more because of daft decisions.
Like in scream two for example, there was a scene where the killer was unconscious & they didn't even unmask him, let alone finish him off while they had the chance. Stuff like this.

Being loud. Stfu, ffs. There's dead folks out there with excellent hearing.

maintaining their ignorant worldviews or still harboring racism/prejudice. I don't mean lower your guard down and trust everyone you mean, but basing decisions on old world viewpoints is a quick way to get yourself killed. The zombies don't care weather the meat is white or dark.

How do the zombies infect most of the world if they are so slow? If 5 people can survive for months against millions of zombies surely 8 billion people can survive the initial outbreak of a few walkers.

And I actually really like the zombie genre.
