back of the head or "gamesmanship" ?

anyone who's been hit in the head more than a few times knows that the 1/2 shots that actually hit the back of the head were soft shots that didn't do damage.

That was a gnp position not an face to face stand up back of the head punches

It didn't look too bad, but hey, I wasn't the one taking those shots, so who am I to judge? Still, it's not often you see guys milking their injuries that much, even when it's certain they're hurt. Hell, some guys have their arms literally snapped in half and look more annoyed at the fact they can't continue to fight than anything.

"Strikes are not permissible in the nape of the neck area up until the top of the ears. Above the ears, permissible strikes do not include the Mohawk area from the top of the ears up until the crown of the head. The crown of the head is found where the head begins to curve.

In other words, strikes behind the crown of the head and above the ears are not permissible within the Mohawk area. Strikes below the top of the ear are not permissible within the nape of the neck area."

Check this out:

They WERE illegal strikes.

The unified rules were a thrust put forward in large part by John McCarthy who was out of regular work with te UFC for a few years, picking up work as an analyst with The Fight Network and in reffing in Affliction, EliteXC and Strikeforce. The Unified rules though well-intended were never adopted by all commissions. Most UFC commentators don't seem to realize this. The general rule of thumb is still from the top of the years to the nape of the neck is all illegal. From the top of the ears to the crown of the head it is the Mohawk
Strip.

It looked like acting and if it was he should beashamed of himself. Either way they should make the rematch so Alacantra can get his win
