General travel discussion?

It's going to be my 4th trip. We're going to visit Tokyo, Kyoto, and Hiroshima. We'll catch the last of the apple blossoms and visit some temples, and very definitely eat and drink a metric fuckton.

Feel free to share your experiences in Japan or any questions you might have about the place. I won't promise, but I'll try to post a bit in this thread during the trip and tell you about anything unusual.

The flight over is going to suck, as anyone who has spent 24 hours in planes and airports can attest, but we arrive at supper time. This is great because you have a little meal, 1 beer (usually more than enough) and then you can sleep until the next morning, practically, and poof. Almost no jet lag.

Activate Tinder, buy yourself a couple of boosts and have fun brother.

I guess I should have mentioned I'll be with my wife. So, while I appreciate suggestions for opportunistic hanky panky, I won't be partaking of any of that. She won't stop me from looking, but that's as far as it goes. Nevertheless, I'm as excited for this trip as a teenager about to cop his first feel.

Tinder works according to your current location ?

Yup and you can set it to other locations ahead of time to connect with some chicks before you arrive.

My advice would be to look at any one of the dozens of threads about visiting Japan in Mayberry over the past year.

How much time do you have for each place?

You'd want at least a week in Kyoto, ideally a month. There are near 2000 temples so there's a lot to see.

My advice is to visit the Kyoto Botanical Garden as one of the first things, they have all of japan flora in that garden so it will prepare you to understand better the gardens and themes of gardens in the many temple gardens.

I would also advice to have a traditional shiatsu massage.

And if you have time for a day trip outside of Kyoto to visit one of the mountains and old mountain villages that enfolds Kyoto.

On Mt Kurama, there is an onsen (outdoor bath) that overlooks the mountain - that, and the mountain scenery and old temples there is well worth a day. About an hour by train from Kyoto.

Just approach things with an open mind. There's gonna be some wonderful stuff, and some wonderfully weird stuff. And then some flat out what the fuck moments.

if you run out of panties, you can get em from vending machines on the street

So much to do. It really depends on how long you're staying, your interest and pace you both prefer. Are you guys foodies? History buffs? Prefer a slow pace versus a fast pace? You probably should have done a little research before hand though....

I was suppose to be in Japan in February, but had a big family emergency that had to cancel our trip. We plan to go back in September, but for maybe a week at most since we'll have a high maintenance 3 year old and a 3 month old packing. We are doing Hawaii -> Japan -> Hong Kong for about a month.

Abbey Road in Tokyo/Roppongi if you like the Beatles.

A baseball game at Meiji Jingu Stadium. (Tokyo Dome kinda sucks).

Hato Bus tour.

Okonomi-Mura in Hiroshima.

Ueno Park or Yoyogi Park for cherry blossoms (They’re almost gone though).

Not my first go round, dude. This is trip number 4. I've seen things. This is just for the sake of conversation because I'm psyched for the trip.

See above and below for examples.

Thanks. We were talking about Ueno Park just yesterday. I think we'll be going. Not baseball fans though.

Dude, there's a fuck of a lot more to Japanese food than sushi.

I'll write more when I'm not on my phone.
