I need info on some BJJ academies in or around Sydney(Let's say within a half ours drive). I am studying abroad there in February. I know there is a Gracie Barra and I heard there was a Gracie Humaita school there but I need more info.

Anyone know anything about these schools or others I don't know of?

Im just looking for a place to drop by and train 3-4 times a month where I could pay a mat fee and I wouldnt have to sign up for a full time membership.

Thanks for all the help.

There's plenty of good training places. You're looking specifically at Gracie places, right? No Machado affiliates?

Otherwise you could check out Anthony Lange's place in Manly or Elvis and Anthony's place in Concord.

It doesnt matter to me whether its a Gracie place or a MAchado place, I'm just looking for a friendly place to train.

Well - I can only recommend those places I know. I've only trained at SPMA Concord and at UCA Castle Hill (too far out for you). I've heard good things about Boxing Works and Northside Martial Arts (where Simon from UCA was).

I am not really "in the know' about which places to avoid, other than not really knowing of any. Honestly, I think they're ALL pretty friendly and easygoing - I think that's just the Aussie way.

agreed, most places are laid back but dunno about the drop in fees you'd have to consult each gym obviously.
