Attn Sherdog geniuses: Is it always the same cage?

They are extremely different and yes very expensive. They are in fact designed for pressure unlike normal fencing. They are not painted but covered in thick coats of vinyl for protection.

Ahh this makes sense. Thank you esteemed Sherdog brother.

It's not the same. They actually have two cages in total. One from the WEC and then the UFC. The Strikeforce cage was sold to WSOF for a couple million. The only thing is that the WEC one is smaller, so it makes the fights more exciting. Basically they just ship the one that's closer to the city they are going to, so it's luck of the draw.

Where did you get that number from? No way that thing is worth more than $50'000 used.
That includes sub floor, outer catwalk and stairs, padding, canvas, all frames, clips, pins and other cage segments.

Oh my illustrious Sherdog brothers... Do they break the cage down and bring it from event to event? Are the metal links the same or do they need replacement?

I'm sure they thoroughly inspect the cage and just replace the mesh and other components as needed. And yes, the cage breaks down for transport, but they (UFC) probably have several cages, including one on standby that can be shipped quickly.

They actually have a separate one for Europe

When the ulitmate fighter is taping and a ppv occurs during the show Dana makes the contestants disassemble and move the TUF octagon to the venue where the ppv is at. Once the TUF fighters get to the PPV they all have to reassemble the Octagon and then get all the real Freakin fighters cold ones for the rest of the night.:cool::cool:
