This is the ram I might buy

Corsair CMY16GX3M2A2400C11R Vengeance Pro Series 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 2400Mhz CL11 XMP Performance Desktop Memory Kit - Red

Will it be compatible? Or do you have any alternatives?

Amazon link wouldn't post

http://downloadmoreram.com - didn't work for me

The link to your RAM isn't working, but pretty much any DDR3 240pin Dimm will work with that board. Get whatever is cheapest - your not going to be overclocking or doing anything crazy (I assume)

I noticed on Amazon.com, 8GB Dimms go for as little as $20:

Edit: It appears that embedded links are not working. But, browse Amazon and get something that is fulfilled by amazon. If it doesn't work, you have 30days to return it for a full refund.

I put a space in the link so people could copy and paste it, it's 2400mhz or something and it doesn't say on the motherboard it supports that.

I literally have no idea with ram, I probably won't over clock it yet

Amazon link wouldntnpost

Corsair Vengeance is an excellent kit - maybe a bit overkill for your intended use, but if that is a good price (I don't know what computer parts go for in the UK), then I would say go for it.

Your motherboard is unlikely able to run the ram at full speed (using XMP settings). It will default to whatever settings your CPU natively runs at (probably 1600Mhz). That's why there isn't a compelling reason to pay more for a high speed kit.

The only thing you *may* have to worry about is if your bios is set up in a way to default to XMP settings. If that's the case, your computer will not post (turn on). This is an easy fix (you go into the bios before installing the ram and manually set the ram speed), but if your not tech savvy, it may be a bit overwhelming (there are hundreds of values etc that can be changed).

I would recommend that you look for a 1600Mhz DDR3 8Gig Dimm (and buy 2 of them). That way, you know it will work, regardless of bios settings.

P.S: Amazon UK sucks. It doesn't look like you have many options to choose from - you might be better served to go to a local store and tell them your mobo and ask for their recommendation.

If your simple question is...
1. can i take out my old ram then
2. install this new ram i bought
3. will it work?

answer, yes

That's all you literally have to know.

That's a bit too techy for me I'll look for 1600's just to be on safe side, that's what is in now.

And well my local store is a pc world, which id rather not go to, so I'll order online, cheers for the advice, any brands you'd recommend? It doesn't have to be on amazon

Look, don't even think about speed, the more the better it won't affect "YOU" either way, as long as it works for you, all you have to know is

1. DDR3
2. NON ECC
3. 1600mhz OR MORE (i'm saying 1600 for easy compatibility and shit, just trust me)

go buy and have fun.

CML16GX3M2A1600C10 Took a punt on that, model of corsair.

Will be here tomorrow.

Quite excited for some more RAM

Just go to Crucial.com and look up your mobo/PC there.

Just a heads up for next time, faster ram usually isn't worth the dollar per performance extra. You won't notice the extra speed either, in gaming we're talking 1-2 fps

Is this for a gaming PC or just a regular pc

I do game on it occasionally, mainly watch films etc but it's lagging on a few games and it's really the only thing letting it down, it's a decent computer tbf, not a real high end gaming but I don't think I'll ever be a hardcore PC gamer. The games I mainly play on it are counter strike, truck simulator and with the extra ram I'll be playing beam ng, well trying too, same with next car game.

I don't mind paying a little extra, I found some other RAM online, but when you factor in the delivery costs, it's either cheaper or a few quid more to get this from Amazon and it's a better quality of RAM from what I've read online
