I'm looking for an advanced blue or purple belt to give me private BJJ instruction at my place/gym on the UES, twice a week/8 classes per mo. Must hold a belt and be a current student from a legit NYC school. Not interested in competition BJJ, but in learning functional BJJ.

If you or someone you know is interested in teaching and making side money from BJJ, please send me a PM with your

- grappling experience
- style of game & strengths
- rate you are looking for

All inquiries will be 100% confidential in case your instructor frowns upon moonlighting.

Thanks!

How about going to a jiu jitsu acadamy, 1 on 1 training sucks especially when a guy is 2 ranks higher then you

Why not just purchase privates from existing schools in the area. You don't just have to pay for the private, but the insurance in case there is an accident. There are several you can choose from. 8x a month is really just a class. I agree with the person who suggested you attend an actual school for a while. What is your reason for requesting privates from just a blue or purple (especially in NYC where there are many many options)?

- Privates from a black belt in NYC = $120 to $150 per hour; once in a while is fine but not 2x a week

- Insurance is not an issue

- Injuries are an issue; I considered joining an academy right before I popped my knee, which made me realize my body isn't what it used to be and that training full-bore at a BJJ academy is not likely in my future; however, I would still like to train and 1-on-1 instruction lessens the chance of aggravating any injury

- Saving time is a big factor for me

- 60 minutes with a blue/purple whose sole purpose is to instruct ME while we roll is better than a typical academy where I'd spend 15 minutes doing sit ups, 15 minutes watching a black belt show a few moves, 15 minutes drilling with a white belt, and 15 minutes rolling with a blue/purple whose purpose is improving HIMSELF

- Carlos and Helio learned from Maeda at home, yo!

are you retarded?

so i guess private lessons suck, then.

Id reccomend you take 1/2 hr privates with john danaher over at renzos. Hes probably the most knowledgable black belt on the east coast, hell teach you a ton of great stuff in that time (youll learn more in that half hr then you will with most ppl in an hr) and he charges alot less than the prices you listed. (cant hurt to try it out once).

then maybe find another older (relaxed) training partner to drill and roll with.

So did you find the blue belt to help you?
