I watched the Frontline program called Documenting Hate. They were reporting on a Nazi group called AtomWaffen that promotes lone wolf strikes. How many in the War Room are members?

Here is what I will never understand about any extremist group.

Do they believe normal people have power?

Do they believe elites give a shit about normal people dieing?

Ok, so why are you killing people then?

If the elites run shit, and they do. Then shouldn't these extremist groups attack property?

I can think of 10 really soft targets that would do 10 billion in damage.

I guarantee elites would give much more of a shit about that, then they do 15 dead people from a amatuer hour attack.

They think their actions will embolden others to take action and stop suppressing the feelings they have long tried to avoid. We have a president who has made racism and bigotry part of his political platform so it is morally acceptable. Just like in pre-WWII Germany, give the people someone to blame and hate.

Agreed. However, the "logic" behind terrorist campaigns goes something like this,

- Carry out a mass casualty attack.

- Government imposes draconian laws on the people they suspect of supporting the terrorists.

- More people join the terrorists as a reaction to government oppression.

- Repeat until the tipping point is reached and the target government is no longer able to control the population.

Now, if I was running a terror campaign, I'd cut out the middle man and go straight for the, "elites" like business leaders and politicians. Obviously, they are far harder targets to hit, but successful attacks on those people would have far greater impact than blowing up some poor kids at a rock concert.

Agreed. However, the "logic" behind terrorist campaigns goes something like this,

- Carry out a mass casualty attack.

- Government imposes draconian laws on the people they suspect of supporting the terrorists.

- More people join the terrorists as a reaction to government oppression.

- Repeat until the tipping point is reached and the target government is no longer able to control the population.

Now, if I was running a terror campaign, I'd cut out the middle man and go straight for the, "elites" like business leaders and politicians. Obviously, they are far harder targets to hit, but successful attacks on those people would have far greater impact than blowing up some poor kids at a rock concert.

I just think if rallying people to your side is the point, why make martyrs for your oppostion.

I think the same would be accomplished with attacks on property, without looking like psycopaths.

All I know, is that when I see things like occupy wall street, and the governments response, or France's oil tax protests, and the governments response, it is obvious who the good guys are, and who th bad guys are, and how our interests don't appear to be aligned.

This is the attack of legitimacy that truly threatens power structures.
