What's the verdict on Stone Mountain as a neighborhood to live?
Just moved to the Atlanta area from NYC and we do not want to live inside the perimeter as we want space (ie: 1-2+ acres). We've driven through Stone Mountain a few times and it looks nice, but when I research it or ask someone we hear it's "stagnant" or not the best place to be. Really?
Any insight would be helpful on the following:
1. schools (as in grade schools for kids)
2. neighborhood (as in, no one is breaking into your crib in the middle of the night)
3. maybe commute time?
I train in Dunwoody (Alliance baby!) and living near lawrenceville right now and don't mind the commute at all.
Also, if you DON'T recommend Stone Mountain, what DO you recommend. We're not opposed to going north either (Cumming? Acworth? etc.)Lawrenceville seems nice, just more $$$ than Stone Mountain.
Thanks
