Hey what's up people, I have a question regarding atama gis the school that I'm about to enroll in has atama gis for sale I'm not sure of the weaves or model number but they are 135, now my question is are they pretty good gis or should I go for the gamanesse. Gis on budovideos.com they are both about the same price the only thing I didn't really want to wait that 2 weeks I want to start bjj now I'm 5ft8 and about 210 which brand whould tou guys recomend? Thanks in advanced

I use a double weave, but their Mundials are amazing! I am 5'7 and weight 154 currently. I'm not big by any means. I wear an A2 and it shrunk perfectly.

I wouldn't recommend a judo cut for a BJJ guy though. I am of course assuming he wants an Atama for BJJ.

Atama is very durable but really uncomfortable, the seam in the back is too thick. The Gold weave used to be my favorite gi until about a week ago I ordered one from another company, Atama felt like sandpaper, so uncomfortable.

My Atama isn't uncomfortable, nor is it like sandpaper... and I use a double weave.

I have the double weave, gold weave and single weave .the cut on the atamas is great but the material is way too harsh. You're lying to yourself if you tell me the double is comfortable. Durable as hell but not comfortable. I still have an ATAMA double weave thats over ten years old and in great shape.

You could do a lot worse than Atama. They aren't my favorite, but the single weave gis I bought about 6 years ago lasted me through years of frequent use. They're only now staring to wear out.

Definitely not lying... the double weave is my favorite gi. I love wearing this thing. They key is to shake the hell out of it before you pack it up in your back, and shake the hell out of it before you put it on. Then you're good to go.

Rockypit, what size are you thinking about getting the a3 or a4? What would all you others recommend for someone about his size and weight?

To be honest I'm not even sure about the a2 or a3 I'm really new to bjj

I'd go with an A3 if I were you. It's better to err on the larger size and shrink it down in the dryer if it's too big.
