As noted in the thread title, buying an at home sauna is one of the best purchases I have ever made.
One of the things I missed most as a result of the gym being closed is access to the sauna.
I found it a great way to recover post workout, with the added benefit of really improving my skin complexion (it elimnated razor burn and ingrown hairs when shaving).
Unfortunately with the pandemic, saunas have been closed since last March. About 3 months ago I decided to look into building an in-home sauna, but the cost was a deterrent ($3k for equipment and installation). However, I came across a number of positive reviews for personal sauna "tents" that were between 300-500.
For that price I figured I would take a chance, and got an infrared unit from Amazon that was large enough to fully sit in (head inside the tent, instead of outside). 8 weeks in, and it has been amazing.
It actually gets hotter than the one I used at the gym, and it has the added benefit of no other strange smelling people who have no reservations about public nudity.
I was a bit concerned about durability and keeping it clean, but it is a workhorse that requires minimal maintenance (you can wash the internal padding in the laundry).
If anyone is in the same situation as me (complete lockdown with no gym for the near future), or just enjoy being in a sauna, the tent is an inexpensive option that gives you majority of the benefits.
The exact model I have is no longer in stock, but it looks like this: https://www.amazon.ca/ZONEMEL-Porta...tent&qid=1607308360&sprefix=sauna+rent&sr=8-9
They also have wet sauna tents (steam), that get much hotter, but require more upkeep.
