He's been waiting a year. It's already summer. There's absolutely no question he's fighting for the undisputed title this year. Maybe vs Jones, maybe not. But Aspinall will be in the next fight for the title.

Does it suck that Jones has dragged this out and that the UFC has let him? Of course. But that's coming to an end.

The problem is there nobody else worthy of a title fight. Why do you think they haven’t stripped Jones yet? Assuming speculation is correct, he should have been stripped long time ago. But not! And why is this again? Who else can you see in that fight that would draw any interest and at least 20% of the PPV dollars that Jon would? Jon knows this and hence the toying he’s been doing. It’s not his fault that HW division sucks.

For sure that's the leverage he's had, but there's a limit even on that. They aren't gonna let him go much longer. They'll just move on and do what they can to market Aspinall. If he keeps KO'ing people, he'll become a draw. Early on they’ll be strategic about how they formulate cards around him but after a couple more KO's as HW champ--he'll be a guy people pay to see.

Yeah, we’ll see. I am of opinion Dana will eventually pay Jon what he wants and this fight will happen. I don’t buy this bull that Jon doesn’t want to fight. They need him, Tom needs him for his legacy. Being a champion whose biggest win is Blaydes is not all that memorable. This is all Dana’s fault for not paying Francis what he asked.

People acting like there has never been a champ of a weak division before.

The sport and the division will continue when Jon fucks off and no one will really care.
Jordan left basketball, Pele left football, Ali left boxing.

Anderson, Fedor, Shogun, Liddell etc left MMA. Fuck, Connor was twice the draw Jon is/was for some reason.

In hindsight he could have been more antagonistic in calling Jones out. Jon is a proud man who takes something like 'bitch' incredibly personally. Jon didn't care about being called a Duck, but I feel like Aspinall could have been a lot more aggressive in goading him into taking the fight

Tom was relatively polite about the whole thing, I wonder if we'd be still discussing this if he spent months saying Jon is a pussy who doesn't want to fight him (rightly or wrongly)
