Almeida doesn't sell. He's boring as a fighter and not marketable in the slightest. He will have to keep grinding decisions to get a title fight because he does nothing to make himself stand out. He needs a big moment to hang his hat on.

I get it, but also for Tom's resume, it's best he gets new matches. Ironically rematches usually never help a champ when defending a title. Look as Usman's resume.

Fair. I think rematches can reflect positively for the champ but hindsight will always be hindsight and for Usman its unfortunate that Colby and Jorge haven't done anything since their Usman rivalries to make anyone feel strongly about those wins for Kamaru
 
He should be he's won a few in a row and the champ, he can't duck Gane any longer though, he's #1 ranked.

I mean if you think about all the champs that did rematches in their title run I can't think of much that really helped their legacy. Even Volk ended up fighting Max 3x, and I just think that if those last 2 matches were new guys that he'd be as respected as Izzy, who only really got rematches when he lost.

Also without it, there would be less PED accusations. That rematch was removed off Jones record and really sent the hate into overdrive. So it was a great win, but put everything in doubt.

It's pretty crazy to think about. The UFC has loved to put champs in rematches, so we've seen so many, yet if you look back you have to dig deep where the rematch even meant anything.

Recycled contenders, rematch or otherwise, stalling divisions is near the top of the list when it comes to the companies never ending issues.
 
This is basically Jones' fanboys only shot for some kind of W over Tom given Jon shit his pants running from him.

Gane has been thoroughly figured out by this point. This matchup shouldn't even be discussed because he lost vs Volkov.
