Asking for a "break" while rolling

There is a guy who I sometimes roll with (SOMETIMES as he is annoying for the following reason...) and he always gets a cramp, jams a finger, realizes he has somewhere to be when I get on top. I HATE IT. Some people actually do get a cramp, jam a finger, or have somewhere they have to be...this guy just hates losing to the 16 year old who has been going for half as long...god I hate that guy.

Anyway, if he is truly feeling as though he does need a break, then you can always start over, especially from guard.

I can't read everyones posts so perhaps this was allready said, but next time just thank him for allowing you to pracitice your defensive skills.

You were rolling with the guy for 20mins and he wants a break? And because he was owning your ass the whole time and you finally get off your back when he wants a break you cry?

Was this a the ADCC tryout or something?

You sound like a bitch.

Well, if the guy looked like he was going to puke, then I think I'd rather him take a break. At your level, he may very well have been on the verge. If it seemed like you were frustrating the shit out of him cuz he couldn't finish, and that's why he wanted a break, then take it as a compliment. I am very competetive in training, as are alot of the guys I train with, but we also realize some people are just there for exercise, and don't really want to push things past a certain point. Maybe it's time to step up a level and roll with someone better.

He was mounted or in side control for 20mins and you think he should roll with someone better?

Just a wee bit harsh, but it struck me as very direct and kind of funny.

I can imagine, on another forum somewhere, some guy posted a thread about a guy he grappled, dominated for 20 minutes, got tired, and the guy he was dominating acted like he was all tough, even though he didn't do shit for 20 minutes.

I'm with the what-the-f--k-took-you-so-long-to-escape crowd.
You just gotta keep an eye on him and see if he does it repeatedly. THEN, you know he's pussying out.
Other than that, you should work on your escapes more. Being mounted for 20 minutes is nothing to be proud about.

While you were on your back defending for 20 minutes and he is working from the top, no shit he will be tired. And btw you're an asshole. Learn how to realize that not everyone does BJJ for the same reasons.

What is wrong with thinking the guy is pussying out after getting back to neutral position? It's so easy on the internet to call people assholes on the internet without a just reason. You wouldn't call one of your freinds or someone you knew in person an asshole for something like this. Grow up.

Psst, that is nothing. If you gas after only twenty minutes how are you going to compete during your three hours long limited-striking-allowed fight? :icon_twis
Telling the promoter he is fucking nuts would be a good start.

Actually I would... but then again none of my training partners get mounted for 20 minutes and bitch when the guy says he's tired. Of course he's tired, rolling for 20 minutes + trying to hold position for most of the time isn't easy.

Getting mad because your partner gasses after he owns you = asshole behavior..

actually i am good enough friends with my friends to say "hey the guy rolled for twenty minutes, don't be an asshole to him because you couldn't get anything done.". shame you don't have friends you can be honest with.

You always have the option of being an ass and pretend you didn't hear him and proceed to get a submission. hehehe

i do have friends i can be honest with, but i wouldn't call my friends an asshole for something trivial like this.

I would.. asking for a break is trivial, and getting mad because of that is being an asshole.
