We've only got a couple of months or so left in 2019 so I was wondering which card has been the best for you so far?

Also, which fight have you enjoyed the most? It doesn't matter if this was on a shitty card or even if it's not the most popular fight, just for you in general?

So two questions.

1. Which card have you found you've enjoyed throughout the most?
2. What has been your favourite fight of the year so far?

Remember your favourite fight doesn't have to be on your favourite card so have a think before you answer if need be :)

I'm going to have to think on this a little but I did enjoy Perry and Luque, I also enjoyed Izzy and Gastelum, I UFC 235 as card I enjoyed as I was looking forward to Askren's debut with Lawler, Smith fighting Jones (regardless of how the fight went) and I really enjoyed Cody and Pedro on that card, in fact UFC 236 with Izzy and Gastelum and Max and Dustin was another I enjoyed as I was looking forward to Alan Jouban's return too, Fight Night with Al Iaquinta and Cowboy and Cub and Burgos was another and I did enjoy Smith and Gus as an individual fight, Cejudo and Marlon was very good too so there's been quite a few.

However what about you guys in regards to the two questions above? :)

236 hands down if only for the main and co-main

UFC 236 had two very entertaining, competitive title fights. The rest of the card was meh but Gastelum vs Adesanya is up there as a fight of the year candidate.

I feel many people will say UFC 241 (DC vs Miocic) as best card
but the main event wasn't super competitive, just DC winning until he lost
and the diaz-pettis fight was pretty sloppy
romero vs costa was great though

UFC 239 (Jones vs Santos) probably the best card of the year so far
at the time the main event was very competitive, I had it scored for Santos
then we got the KO of the century with Askren vs Lawler
and Nunes cemented herself as the GOAT by destroying Holm

UFC 238 (Cejudo vs Moraes) had an amazing title fight
and Valentina with a great KO that left Jessica Eye twitching on the canvas for five minutes
Tony vs Cowboy was getting good until Tony cheated with the late blow and Cowboy blew his nose

as far as overall cards go it has been pretty meh
lots of great individual fights but nothing great overall

KOTY is Askren vs Masvidal closely followed by Weili Zhang imo.
FOTY probably Gastelum vs Adesanya

Vicente/Perry and DC/Stipe 2 are my picks for FOTY.

Yeah, I wouldn't say 241 didn't deliver but I don't think it was as good as what it sounds/looks like on paper, I'm not saying it wasn't good or anything but it doesn't come to me as the best card after watching it if you get what I mean, I also thought Sandhagen was good on that card too but he always is to be honest.

Yeah the Santos and Jones was good because he gave Jones a run for his money too, of course with Jones pretty much limping out of the arena and then finding out Santos had a few things going on before the fight too it was really good, the Askren/Lawler thing was brilliant, the controversy around it is BS to me but the way Lawler unleashed on Askren and it was like "Woah" thinking Askren was done and then he comes back and chokes out Lawler, I thought that was impressive and I hear you about Nunes also, she's great and always delivers too!! :)

I was going to mention more about Cejudo and Moraes too, in fact I'm not even a Cejudo fan but he has delivered this year, he took TJ out at the beginning of the year so well and then the way he switched up his game plan in the Moraes fight and won is really impressive, I'm not fan of him at all but credit where it's due and I actually wouldn't feel it was out of place if he got fighter of the year in that sense and I say that as a non fan of him too.

I don't think Tony cheated with the blow though, it was just in the moment and after the horn he didn't realise, you could see how gutted he was about it but I don't think that was intentional at all, Cowboy blowing his nose though was funny, the dude is great and takes things so well, you've gotta love Cowboy but yeah that fight was great too, even with that it still delivered I felt so I agree :)

I think probably 235 has been the most enjoyable card throughout, I really thought Munhoz and Gardbrant put on a fantastic fight too, along with Lawler and Askren and then Jones with Smith, I know it wasn't the best fight with Smith but I enjoyed it and I always love seeing Smith fight, it just wasn't clicking that night for him that's all but I can understand that, he came back anyway with the Gus fight but that was definitely an enjoyable night.

I'm sure there's been cards too where it's been quite a weak card, not knowing many of the fighters even and the event has been enjoyable throughout, the recent event in China was probably one of the weakest cards ever (we know how they had problems booking talent on there due to the situations) and although it was no where near even close the best card of the year, I do remember afterwards thinking the fights that we saw were better than we expected which is why I don't really invest too much sometimes in the strength or weakness of the card on paper.

Great post by the way, you added some great insights and I appreciate that :)

Vicente/Perry and DC/Stipe 2 are my picks for FOTY.

Yeah, I think the Vicente and Perry fight was really good, this is what I mean when I say I can understand how Mike Perry is some people's favourite fighter, he's exciting to watch and he comes to fight, dude's not even ranked and probably will never win a title but so I much prefer the fighters to be exciting and good to watch as opposed to if they win titles or whatever.

FOTY probably Gastelum vs Adesanya

Yeah, you know what, you made some good choices there, maybe it's just me but Zhang reminded me of Nunes when she took out Cyborg, she was great.

Gastelum and Adesanya was great too, I absolutely agree, we saw Izzy quite beat up there too which isn't really something we've seen before, such a great fight.

Will be interesting to see how Till does with Gastelum, he's probably going to get smashed as expected but who knows, he might put up a pretty good fight so be interesting to see :)

Jones vs santos card had to be the event of the year. Featured some of the best kos, and fights we’ve seen in awhile. And, we saw someone challenge Jones in a way we haven’t seen in years. Great event.

Yeah, it's definitely not out of place ain't that, agree completely :)

UFC 238. Literally all but 1 fights were really fun. And even that 1 fight, involving Darren Stewart, was okay. Rivera Vs Yan, Sterling Vs Munhoz, Chookagian Vs Calderwood, Moraes Vs Cejudo, Tony Vs Cowboy, Wineland Vs Popov, Grasso Vs KK could easily win fight of the night on most cards. I don't see any card from this year beating it so far.
