So I'm having an issue. I think Conor has been horrible for the sport, and is a horrible person that would likely be rotting in a prison if he didn't have the money to circumvent the law.

But free money is free money. And it is rare that bets are free money. For the record, I was the guy that bet on Khabib here:
https://forums.sherdog.com/threads/bet-803-on-khabib.3839033/
That was nice because I'm a fan of Khabib, plus I had a nice vacation with the wife with those winnings.
THAT was free money because Khabib is a superior fighter and the delusion of Conor fans made the line much better for me. But this fight is a different kind of free money, and is based on a factor some are ignoring... the UFC has already selected the winner.

1. Dana has already declared the gameplan. Conor beats a non-contender Cowboy on a losing streak at WW in order to justify a title shot at a stacked LW. Source is 100 interviews, I think everyone has these.

2. We know what historically happens when UFC REALLLLY wants one guy to win. Wake up from your WWE "it is still real to me" delusions please. First time I ever saw a truly egregious example was Rumble/Vitor. I understand as an organization that you'd be pissed that Rumble missed weight 27 times or whatever it was. However, when that level of ref-fight-fixing was SO in your face in order to justify firing Rumble off a loss it should have generated pushback from fans... but it didn't. So the precedent was set. "You can get away with this guys." And so they did it again...

3. We know what's happened SPECIFICALLY and RECENTLY with what happens when the UFC REALLLLLY wants CONOR to win. Anyone with a brain will recognize Conor-Khabib was the most openly fixed fight in favor of one fighter. But please don't take my conspiracy word for it. Look at the mountain of evidence. There's a beautiful thread breaking down the systemic favoring of Conor in that fight here:
https://forums.sherdog.com/threads/...dean-should-be-fired-update-new-gifs.3848651/
And even that thread missed some of the fix, like at the 40 second mark of this video

when literally before the fight even starts Herb was doctoring it for Conor by stopping Khabib/giving signal to Conor to take center of the Octagon (benefits a striker vs a fence grappling specialist in case you didn't know). And let's not even discuss the elaborate fixing before the fight to try to give Conor a mental edge against Khabib like he had against Aldo. The entire "tacitly support religious and personal attacks while covering for the criminality" angle that was ultra-obvious to us all. Not to mention the most obvious corporate-butthurt of all time after Khabib won and all the sudden UFC is outraged about aggresive behavior/talked of stripping Khabib of the belt to overturn the result: only after media backlash specifically from ESPN and fans did they stop that talk in case you don't remember.

4. Finally, we have a pretty good damn indication of where Cerrone is coming from here. We know it went from "Cowboy isn't making any extra money at all" to Cowboy getting an entirely new red panty contract.
https://sports.yahoo.com/cowboy-cerrone-admits-conor-mcgregor-002240394.html
We also know Cowboy is openly stating what is going to happen:
https://forums.sherdog.com/threads/...g-to-go-out-there-and-stand-with-him.3907719/
He promised to "stand and bang" and "giving everyone what they want to see" and is comfortable with the idea of losing. lol how much clearer do you want him to be here?!? How often do you hear a fighter talk like that? Nevermind the contract he just so happened to renegotiate at the same exact time he said that...

SO PLEASE FELLOW SHERDOG POSTERS, TRY TO CONVINCE ME NOT TO BET ON CONOR. Part of me doesn't want to because I dislike the guy. Appeal to me being a Conor hater if you like. Because I simply don't see how this is NOT free money in my bank account...

TLDR: To quote the Trinity killer from Dexter... "it is already over." Can't stand Conor but can't see how he loses here. Free money / please convince me I'm wrong since I'm bothered by the idea of betting on this guy.

PS: In before kflo being called in to do PR posts in response to either A) USADA's perceived legitimacy or B) the perceived legitimacy of title fights/favoritism in the UFC.

Cowboy has been bought and paid for

cheques in the mail

Bet whatever you want on Mcgregor

You flipped a lot of burgers for that money.
An internet guy talking down to someone about money with no knowledge of the person or any evidence of their wealth? You're so original, I don't think I've ever seen that done before.

I would definitely bet on Conor for sure, I don't see how in any way Cerrone wins this.

I'd feel safer betting on myself to beat McGregor lol.

Horrible for the sport? He's literally one of the best things to ever happen to the sport. Deplorable outside the cage? Yes, but the guy has taken MMA to a level it has never even sniffed in terms of popularity, revenue. The fighters have become far more aware of their worth and made a lot of money off him. MMA fighters were risking their lives for peanuts and had no voice before Conor came.

What are you talking about? Flipping burgers is God’s work. The man was praising you and your profession. Plus you can always get promoted to the guy who puts salt on the fries, so good career trajectory.

No, it's the way to go. If Donald wins, great!
Conor wins, good enough, have some monies!

To be fair, the other fighters still have little voice. But they now have the courage to ask for fights with big time boxers knowing it will never happen.

smart money would have bet on Conor way earlier. As people predicted, he is more of a favorite now.

As a conor fan I have to say his betting odds are pretty crap. A lot of unknown factors at play,:
How much ring rust has Conor? 1 mma fight in over 3 years.
170 definitely favours Cowboy, his chin is likely to be more solid.
Hell of a lot of pressure on Conor, its a must win for him really.
Cowboy is coming in relaxed and usually performs well when he does.
Conor seems to have bulked up slightly, will that affect his cardio?
All these legal issues, will take take a toll mentally and on his preparation for the bout?

I'd make Conor a slight favourite but I'm only about 60% confident. The +ev bet is to bet on Cerrone to be honest.

Always bet on black. So I don't know what to do in this situation.

Conor has set an example. There needs to be a first. If Conor can make all these millions then so can I.

Bet the house on Cowboy because being homeless is an interesting experience that will lead you to the light.

Maybe I should have been more clear. Specifically he's horrible for the legitimacy of the sport. He has frozen multiple divisions / replaced meritocracy with popularity / took the Chael template to the next level in devaluing everything that set this sport apart from boxing and WWE.

I'm happy if some fighters can get paid more because of the side effects of Conor sure... but even then... the overwhelming majority haven't.
