Ariel to Anthony Smith: "You should've taken the DQ win 100%"

That was one of the worst title fights I've ever seen. Will not watch again.

Nonsense.

If smith took the DQ win, his career would be over. He would be remembered infamously for the incident, and that would ruin his career.

Not worth it for a brief title win.

Was there any honor in cutting weight to fight in middleweight just to have advantage over littler guys? <{Heymansnicker}>

When Smith is old, has CTE and no retirement plan I guarantee he'll wish he'd taken the W.

How many of you saying Smith shouldn't take a dq win for illegal strikes also say Jones is a cheater and should be disqualified for PEDs or eyepokes? It's frustrating when people believe in rules except when they don't believe in rules. A fighter full of adrenaline is the last guy who should be asked if they're still capable of fighting. The rules against illegal strikes are there to protect the fighters long term health not just to negate a momentary advantage

Fighters shouldn't get the damn option to take a foul or not. What other sport do they get the option?

None. No NFL coach would have a job if they didn't take the penalty because of "honor". Bunch of crap.

The fuck you talking about?

Football (soccer for you large bellied types) managers have instructed their team to allow the other team to score after a bullshit decision gave them a goal multiple times.

I'm not speculating at all.

If you think he wouldn't make more money by having an instant rematch with Jones.... you're even fucking dumber than everybody thought.
Lol. Genius, again you’re assuming he gets an instant rematch that no one wants to see.

If he took a way out DQ there’s no guarantee he gets any of the things you are assuming. No title, no rematch, no ppv. But you think you know.

Grunch, but since the knee happened in the 4th, most likely it would have gone to a technical decision. Very unlikely Herb would flat out DQ in a fight he was dominating to piss off the brass.

He's familiar enough with the fates of trigger happy dq'ers like Mazagatti and Yamasaki.

Ariel is not a fighter and doesn’t have a fighters heart or mindset.

"What do you mean honor?! HE'S the one who threw the illegal knee, not you!"

Agreed 100%

First, you don't put quotation marks around something unless that person actually says that thing. Ariel never says
"You should've taken the DQ win 100%". Is it obvious that he is suggesting this by what he does say? Not to me. If this is indeed what Ariel means, then he's an idiot. Smith was able to fight on, and was cleared by the doctor to fight on.

Smith made the right call not by being especially honorable, but just by being honest. He COULD fight on, so he did. The ref should have deducted a point, maybe even two....that's the only part of the fight that should have been different. And Jones still would have won.

The rules are that if the fighter isn’t able to continue ... yet smith was clearly able to continue. So some arguing that he himself should cheat to win because he was hit with an illegal blow aren’t exactly being true to the rules.

Wasn’t the Chael fight where jones toe was half ripped off

Wouldhave been hilarious if Chael made it out of the rpund
He was 1 toe stomp away from being champ.
