Are you ready to be turned into computronium?

Matter organized into computronium computes 1.36e50 FLOPs per second per kilogram. The human brain computes about 10^18 per second.

Let's take a person who weighs 180 pounds. If we took the material in their body and reorganized it into computronium, the computronium would compute 1.1e52 FLOPs per second. such a computronium would be 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 times more intelligent than the original person. This number is more intelligent than the sum of all human intelligence that has ever existed, by a ridiculous amount.

Doesn't this just make you feel so happy to think about?

Happy to think about? No you lunatic it's utterly horrifying lol.

Well, computronium figuring out a solution is a happier thought than most models for the fate of the universe.

whats the point. we wont be people any more. I think once something becomes that smart it no longer has a personality. its just smart and boring

We will all taste the progenitor of our destiny, the beacon to our desires, where all pain and suffering cease, where all will become one.... Absorbed inside the glorious Nexus. Let the channels of our dendrites splash and saturate our moist cortex towards the path of truth...

All the computronium still wouldn't be able to handle the Sherdog forum 'like' feature.

Best part of the video is timestamped.

If there's one thing smart people understand it's that ignorance is bliss.

Basically if you become that smart you'll just instantly kill yourself

How are atoms a computation? What exactly are they computing? Stopped watching the video at 0:29 when this idiot makes this claim.

"Computronium is a material hypothesized by Norman Margolus and Tommaso Toffoli of MIT to be used as 'programmable matter', a substrate for computer modeling of virtually any real object."

"Programmable matter is matter which has the ability to change its physical properties in a programmable fashion, based upon user input or autonomous sensing. Programmable matter is thus linked to the concept of a material which inherently has the ability to perform information processing."

Pretty quickly he started talking abstractly and on conjecture.

I think he was implying that we will have the mathematical ability to tell the probability of the most intricate elements and happenings at impossibly small scales in order to recreate a hypothetical formula that would not only repeat reality's mathematics ( this is getting hugely abstract ) but also reorganize it ( according to some kind of structure ) in a more efficient manner.

Sounds like how they say about teleportation technology would potentially work - by vaporizing you in one place and cloning you in another immediately. But computatorium also comes with an upgrade? If that wasn't ridiculous enough
