I have followed MMA since UFC 1, i intially joined these forums as it was the only MMA forum on the web at the time(before my join date in this forum).

I have followed boxing from a very young age, much longer than MMA, and while there are a lot of divided opinions and the odd idiot or someone who just plain sticks to thier guns...i like that.

I sometimes pop into the MMA forum, and it's social media this, social media that, lets slag off one fighter as my favourite fighter is better yadda yadda yadda.

Are we all just old fuckers who dont stoop to those levels(i know we have plenty of discussions over who is better, or who won said fight), but i never see plain nasty posts just trying to discredit a fighter.

Is that simply the demographic that follows MMA compared to boxing, and am i one of the wierd ones who likes both sports?

I don't really care other than those that don't like it just because. You'll hear a lot of people talk shit about boxing, making comparisons to UFC that don't really add up.

MMA is just not as good.
Skill wise, athlete wise, entertainment wise.

I do like that if gives guys who perform other arts an avenue to compete.

UFC probably has the best promotion in the game though. Fans believe every single one of their card is the best fighting the best.

i would say the average age of regular posters in the boxing forum has to be at least 15 years higher than that of the heavies.

the main forum is filled with people who think and write like overcompensating teenagers. there's a bunch of good posters there, but they're completely drowned in the idiotic nonsense spewed by the mass. it's actually gotten somewhat better after khabib gave mcgregor a beating, before that the forum was insufferable. every single thread was about how triggered and scared everyone looked and how much money conor has. you still get that crap, but to a lesser degree now.

when the biggest star of the sport is an obnoxious asshole, the fans will be, at the very least, people who like obnoxious assholes.

UFC = WWE 2.0

A LOT O PEOPLE even believed that Rhonda could beat Floyd in MMA/street fight LMFAO

Floyd would literally kill her in Judo.

You can like both sports, no problem.

BUT

MMA fans are the worst fans in the history of whatever.

Midget/Porn/Gaming Community >>>> MMA fans.

I think even hardcore MMA fans know this.

Not really. I like mma and the rivalry between the two seems a bit stupid. They're both different and I like them both for what they are.

Reminds me of this guy in the War Room who was constantly trying to convince everyone that he was a rich real estate developer. He kept offering up "evidence" but no one as successful as he claimed to be would be pandering that hard for praise on an anonymous karate forum. And only a kid would think that anyone on the karate forum would give a shit one way or the other.

The thread stunk of "No you wouldn't know her, she goes to another school."

You can like whatever you want. There are even people who like disc golf.

But maany MMA fans make everything worse.

Most delusional fan base in the history of sports.

imo bald head rogan is still the worst.

"shoulder rolls dont work in a real fight" but they work in MMA, thats more than enough.
"no new boxing star ... they will all be in MMA"
"boxing is not aesthetically pleasing, but jitsiu is aesthetically pleasing to me."
LOL

I like both

im a fan of combat sports.

I’ve been watching boxing for about 40 years and MMA since the third UFC. I like both sports, but I do find MMA fans to be pretty annoying, especially when they start in on boxing and how “limited” it is. That’s the beauty of it. MMA is so jack of all trades that beauty rarely enters into it.

I like both, tbh
I'm actually glad that most MMA fans don't like boxing
Most of them (not the fans on sherdog) are either dumb casuals, or only care about the drama
MMA fans that post on sherdog are something else sometimes

doesn't seem to help, they are constantly coming over here with some bullshit.

on the rare occasions i venture out to other spots, there are some smart people, not everyone is a dummie but I almost never even look at mma related posts, if I look at something, it's usually something that catches my eye and as i've said before, this site has the best paranormal threads I've seen online.

I can't respect a sport where I could quite literally knock every single competitor out...
Therefore I cannot watch mma.

we had a cute one from some kid saying some mma guy could compete in boxing a couple weeks ago, that's the type of stuff that's nonstop, just treat them like the kids they are and they go away on their own.

What??? YOU said the fans on sherdog ARE NOT dumb casuals, so I said look at the UFC forum, implying they ARE.
Jesus....
So I looked at the UFC forum, came back here to tell you, that you were right
