Is there something wrong with me?

I don't get emotional for things involving real people.

When I heard about the school shooting in the states where all the kids died I felt nothing.

I can watch videos on the internet of people being stabbed shot decapitated or whatever and it doesn't bother me. Sometimes I even laugh.

When family members of mine have died I've felt nothing

My dad is in the hospital with cancer and I find I don't think much about it, even though he could die.

However I can get extremely emotional watching movies or witnessing animal abuse

Seems kind of backwards, am I emotionally damaged or what

I dont really get emotional when I hear about people I don't know dying ... so, the recent shootings haven't really affected me either.

But, got emotional when my mate died/broke up with my ex/ saw my dad for the first time in years etc.....

I'm no groundhog expert, but I'd say yes. I'd even guess you know that, which is why you made this thread. Instead of asking strangers on the internet, not that there's anything wrong with that, but you might get more out of these questions if you asked them to a trained professional, i.e. a therapist.

Probably.

Edit: that you are emotionally damaged.

My girlfriend has compared me to this character.

I'm quite emotional for certain things which is kinda strange as I get emotional for things I feel I shouldn't and I don't get emotional for certain things I shouldn't, kinda similar to you, but not for the same reasons.

I'm not a very emotional person and, like you, I felt no emotional response to the shooting, but when someone close to me dies/becomes seriously ill I will have an emotional response. Unlike you, I have no emotional response to animal abuse, or anything involving animals.

He speaks the truth; sherdog was forced to collectively bear witness to his PMS'ing all over the forums.

To answer the original question.

Yes. Yes I am.

I get bummed out over stuff but I rarely show it. Ain't nobody got time for that!

To answer your first question: Yes, I am.
To answer your second and third: Yes, but most people are in some way. As long as you don't hurt anyone, feel free to not feel for people.

Actually, the laughing about decapitations and violence thing is a bit excessive.

Ts is homeland security screening on sherdog.

TS, you just need to get ass cancer.
That will change your opinion on everything.

this is the part where everyone here compares themselves to serial killers and are so emotionally tough.

I'm one of the most sentimental and sensitive guys I know and I have no problem admitting it.

Im pretty emotional, yes.
Maybe it's having kids, maybe it's having a wife beating me into submission about being emotionally cold, maybe it's just me.... I don't know, but yeah, I'm more emotional than most.
The kids getting shot made me cry. The mall shooter in OR didn't though... I think that's most likely because I have a couple kids the same ages as some of the victims and it hit really close to home.
