I'm a Hardcore fan. No one's a bigger fan than me.

Btw, I've watched less than 10 fights from 2018.

Voted hardcore cause while how much I watch qualifies as casual(honestly can't imagine being a hardcore fan of any hobby), I despise how casuals tend to view the sport and identify with hardcore fans more cause I can enjoy tactical fights and am not obsessed with superfights, highlight reels or loud annoying clowns.

Also have been a fan for over a decade now so at some point seniority has to kick in?

Used to do PPV events at my house but people started fighting over paying so I cut that shit off and don't do that anymore.

used to be hardcore
now a father of 2, i don´t have that much time to dedicate to mma
father time made me casual

If you're on this forum, you're most likely a hardcore.

I was a hardcore fan for a long time, but I skip most fights now and only tune in for fights that I think are special. Usually just wait and see which fights people say we’re good and watch them after the fact, but always read results ASAP.

Anybody that cares enough about MMA to hang out with this gang of sub-humans (me included) on a daily basis has got to be considered hardcore.

HC / Casual.....Varies..been involved in Martial Arts the last 40 years..

Hardcore...

I got DAZN

Casual becoming hardcore i think.

And i want all the casuals possible. They should do Khabib vs McGregor 2 if they can. Or Dana White vs Tyron Woodley with a blindfold on. Or Khabib vs a Bear. I don't care.

The casuals are the ones who ultimately pay my favorite fighters.

My favorite fighters will likely end up with CTE and other issues because of this sport, so i want them to be paid as much as possible for it.

It's my honest opinion that casuals keep the ufc/mma churning. They are the primary audience of the ufc particularly. I feel like legit hardcore fans don't buy into "hype" fights as much because a lot them know the fighters too well. I personally feel somewhere in the middle. Not crazy enough to follow mma each day but keep my eyes on the news weekly and watch as many fights as I can. But I do not fight or train so I don't know near enough as somebody who trains and knows more about the details of the fight game.

I've been hardcore for a REALLY long time! That's just me, though.

More hardcore than most but less than some here for sure. I never miss main cards, aways watch prelims for ppvs, and have rewatched an insane backlog of fights on fightpass.

I don't know, I don't care about belts or who wins anymore. I still watch every event that I can. I have every Pride and UFC available on DVD but I don't watch them much after the first ten times. I guess I'm Hardcore just because I rented most of the original UFC events on VHS back in the day just to watch Tank and Gary Goodridge try to murder people.

Hardcore.

I watch every UFC fight, and at the very least watch the highlights of: Rizin, Bellator, ACB, ONE, Pancrase, Road, TKO, Titan. Will watch highlights of LFA/CES if available. Occassionally will watch Euro cards although it's lower on my priority list.

Really not sure why I've just never been able to get into EFN, M1 or WFCA. Although, thankfully WFCA just merged with ACB.

Nowadays MMA doesn't interest me as much as it used to in the past. I can't say I know the names of every current UFC champ for example, I'm definitely not a hardcore fan anymore.

Casual fan now, but a few years ago I would have called myself a hardcore fan.

Was a hardcore fan 10-12 years ago, now I'm a pretty bad casual fan. Don't know too many of the guys on the UFC roster honestly.

I'd say I'm a casual now. I watch all the big fights but do everything on my own terms and dont get forced into watching watered down events etc. I just watch the things that interest me, even if its one fight later on. I just stay off Sherdog and watch at my leisure, very exciting at times.

I used to watch everything. Now I just watch when GSP fights.

I make a consistent effort to watch all major events, even saw all 11 PFL events. Lately I've been missing many events (didnt see Ortega get beat into a living death by Holloway live, for example) so I can't really say that I'm a true hardcore at the moment. In spirit, yes, Ive shifted from watching lots of hockey, football, and some MMA to predominantly watching MMA. But the correct tag for me as of late is Hardcore/Casual (Varies). Ill be back at the hardcore level eventually, I still spend an hour or more a day lurking on sherdog and/or reading mma news sites.

EDIT: Would never have missed a fight like Holloway/Ortega if my schedule allowed it, but Ive just been slacking over the holidays and adjusting to my new work schedule. I do, however, occasionally watch Bellator on DAZN on my phone while I'm with clients (volume down of course, and behind a barrier of sorts that prevents them from seeing). Working saturdays has really fucked my ability to get my MMA fill as of late.

I used to be pretty hardcore back in the day.. but now I only watch the big stuff.

No way, man.
We're going to keep on hardcoring forever forever forever forever...

I'm just a combat sports fan. I'll watch stuff that interests me and avoid stuff that doesn't. When you've been watching for years you tend to be more selective with what you watch.

It doesn't happen to me with porn though

Casual

Started watching MMA after the Conor/Khabib Fiasco.

Only watch events in Europe or North America and sometimes Australia
Not interested in circus from Asia or South America

If I followed orgs like One, PFL, and M1 in addition to what I watch now I'd consider myself hardcore. Everybody has their own definitions though.

Casual as fuck here. In Italy you don't even have to pay to watch MMA (well you do have to pay for the whole package of sports but still).
In fact I find all you guys bashing each other pretty peculiar.
But I'll be insulting Conor fans in no time, just need to get into the part.

A-level athlete/A-list celebrity comped seat backstage pass status casual.

Why is casual/hardcore a even a thing? I don’t know of any other sport in which people are shamed for being new fans.

I’m not even saying it’s a bad thing. I just wonder why “casual” gets throw around so much on mma forums:

C'mon man casual vs hardcore exists for every sport.
Personally I've watched football (soccer for you illiterates) since I was like 6, and football fans will call you a casual if you don't turn up at the stadium EACH SUNDAY.
It's common for hardcore fans to feel "special" (lack of a better term due to language barrier, help me here) and more entitled to be a factor in the sport.

Picked Hardcore. "Hardcore but becoming MORE casual" is probably the most accurate though.

I honestly don't know how anyone who has a lot of post on an mma forum could be considered a casual fan though.

Hard to tell. Probably has something to do with the PPV model in this sport that isn't found in other sports. The fact that there are a few quality American B-Leagues in this sport to where the other sports don't have them. I guess I don't really consider someone "hardcore" if they only watch UFC. If they keep up with all the fight pass prelims instead of the other orgs I guess they could be.

Being called a casual is about the least offensive thing though that some fans try to act as if it should carry a negative connotation.

I think because it is a new sport.
Some nitwits think calling others "casuals" gives them superiority

There Is some truth to that I will admit, but it’s definitely not the same. Who besides mma fans even use the word casual as an insult?

Trust me, most people who watch football (American) are “casual” fans. They watch because that’s what people do in America, not because they have any knowledge or true passion for the sport.
Check out an NFL or NBA forum. You don’t see that attitude at all.

There is clearly an element of people around here that take great pride in being more knowledgeable about the sport than others and love to point it out. MMA is clearly unique in that aspect and I’m just wondering why that is.

I agree. It’s funny to me because if you are a real “hardcore” you would want the sport to grow and get better via more money for fighters, bigger talent pool, etc, all of which is impossible without new fans aka casuals.

Dunno, I watch almost all the fights, and stay up to watch them live every weekend they are on as i'm in the UK.

Not sure where that places me.
