Are Kid and Akiyama cut from UFC?

The UFC just needs to throw Yamamoto into some big fights. They are paying him a ton and he has given them nothing in return. There is no point of booking him against guys like Vaughan Lee or Uyenoyama.

If Yamamoto loses to a top contender oh well, but it's just sad to see him to lose to mid-level fighters. I would much rather see him fight guys like Urijah, Bowles, Pickett, Jabouin, etc.

Obviously, they booked him against Darren and Vaughan to get some wins and it didn't turn out the way they planned.

KID made a disclosed 15k for his fight vs MM.

Kid was such a bust in the UFC.. I had such high hopes for him. He used to be a frigging monster.

Akiyama I can cut some slack.. he's fought a murderer's row of fighters since his debut and every fight has been very exciting. He needs a step down in competition. I felt like Belcher beat Sexy, but then again I think Sexy beat Shields. So that evens

Both fights were close. I'm not sure why some fans call the Belcher decision a robbery. It was a close fight and it could have gone either way, it's not like Belcher dominated the fight. I had Belcher winning too, but it was damn close.

Akiyama gave that fight away against Shields. Akiyama needed to turn up the volume in the 3rd round, but maybe the weight cut was too tough on him.

They haven't been cut, they're both way too marketable in Japan for them to be cut. Cutting either or both of them would be like the UFC throwing away money.

And Sexyama was scheduled to fight Alves or Bahadurzada (I forget which) before he injured himself.

I don't think Kid Yamamoto's been cut, but he might've been and the UFC just hasn't announced it yet. He's in the UFC's roster still, so that's a good sign. I think he's just focused on coaching right now; his biggest disciple's that Kyoji Horiguchi dude, and he's been tearing shit up in Japan right now, and it looks like Krazy Bee's doing pretty well as a whole, so he might just be focusing on that right now. It sucks how Kid Yamamoto's career has gone as of late... he just wasn't the same fighter after he tore his ACL, and because of that nobody that became a fan of MMA afterwards has been able to see him at his best. First impressions are important, and it just sucks that for a lot of people, myself included, the first impression was of him being 1-5 and, despite having moments of light in each fight, looking bad and losing pretty decisively each time he fought, and just generally not looking like he would've looked a few years ago.

I hope so

I preached they would be exposed but for some reason you guys will never learn

How on earth was Kid exposed...?

He hadn't looked good at all in his fights prior to signing with the UFC. When he was signed, everyone on THIS site was already saying it was too late because he was too old.

Someone sourced it a few years ago. I'm not going to take the time and go back 2 years and dig up old articles though.

After hearing about the signing bonuses of Lombard, Alvarez, Overeem, Akiyama, etc., it's pretty obvious that he got paid. His UFC/WEC debut was long awaited and Dana and WEC matchmaker Sean Shelby had wanted him for awhile.

Akiyama should get a last chance.

Kid just doesn't look like he cares anymore, cut him just for that.

I don't think anyone was expecting him to get starched by Vaughan Lee and dominated on the ground by an oversized flyweight (Uyenoyama) that was taking the fight on short notice.

Making fire has never been so sexy. This is borderline porn material....hope you wont get dubs..

Sexyama is going to be kept around and given the Hardy treatment.

I would be surprised if they finalized the card and didn't put KID on it. He was one of the biggest names in JMMA for a while before all the injuries and signing with the UFC, so hopefully they'll give him a fight on the preliminary card at least.

lombard, alvarez, overeem and lombard were/are all on win streaks and hot commodities. KID was no longer a hot commodity when they UFC signed him.

KID was 1-2, underperforming in expected TV ratings (aside from his fight with warren which had a lot help from daisuke naito's fight just prior to the event) in a near-bankrupt promotion. why would UFC pay him more than they had to?

I still would love to see Kid vs Faber. :)
That would've been such an amazing fight 7 years ago. Dream fight for me personally. Now it would be a sad showcase of KID and would only make the unknowledgeable fans think he's another overrated Japanese fight who couldn't cut it in the UFC which is totally untrue and it's just that he's past his prime and that injuries have really gotten to him.

You really think he signed with the UFC for 15/15? Time to wake up. He could have made more money staying in Japan. The UFC paid him and you know it. Stop trying to pretend like he didn't get paid to come fight in the UFC. Akiyama and Gomi got big signing bonuses to come to the UFC, you really think Yamamoto was left out in the cold? Gomi wasn't doing too well himself, but he got paid big because the UFC knew he could still draw fans. Yamamoto was signed to be a top contender. He faced Might Mouse in his debut and if he won that he likely would have fought Faber. The UFC had big plans for him.

come back when you have a source. you think he's still getting big bonuses now? you think his 15k base pay has gone up? common sense says he's not getting paid "a ton" like you originally claimed.

after KID lost to warren and kanehara, DREAM went from being "the KID show" to the "kawajiri and aoki show". to say he could have made more money in japan is wishful thinking, FEG's DREAM was on it's last legs at that point, KID was midcarding and aoki/kawajiri were the new "superstars" of the promotion.

I never said he gets big bonuses now. I said he got a signing bonus when he initially signed with the UFC. Just like all big name free agents get from the UFC. I don't think his base pay went up because he hasn't won a fight yet. The pay raise triggers set in the UFC contracts usually don't go up until you start winning fights.
