Are Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes the only two competent strikers Ronda has faced?

Miesha was the first to beat her standing actually, Bethe was the second and Miesha beat her a lot more clearly than Bethe did.

Now is not the time to argue about Tate anyway, let's unite as two of the few remaining R3 fans.

Betch? Really?

Ronda is going to become the Fedor of WMMA, people will try to detract from her legacy for their own agenda.

That's already happening.

I mean, she got worked. Twice. Badly. But people go to great lengths to somehow pretend her accomplishments aren't impressive.

Yes, you can say she's Royce Gracie of her time. The anaology isn't perfect but it works. The major difference is Gracies opponents had no fucking clue what to do or expect. Ronda was still beating people that were training specifically to beat her and her style, and they weren't as incompentent as sherdog likes to pretend. She might be the Royce Gracie of her time, but her accomplishments are actually much better.

Nunes is not an elite striker, she just has actual striking that the average person can't just block with their face. In the men's division, you fight these guys by letting them throw themselves off balance, and then you shoot, keyword SHOOT, for a takedown. Ronda is the female Royce Gracie. Nothing wrong with that, but she was delusional to think that her key to victory was improving her striking. Her key would have been developing a wrestling game that brawlers are generally poor at defending. Ronda has done Judo since birth, and probably hasn't seriously trained striking until he got ktfo by a woman who has been boxing almost as long as she's done judo. She doesn't have the mentality to evolve.

Buncha nonsense in this post

oh ffs go bug someone else with your useless shitposting.
Holy was a boxing world champ, she was a class above all those soccer moms. we all had no idea she had the jitz defence of TBE.

Respond if you care to, i won't cut you off, but im done with you in this exchange. good luck.

Davis has a black belt in BJJ. She completed in high level BJJ competition. But she is a soccer mom?

No, they're the only 2 ELITE strikers.

Kaufman and Davis were competent strikers and Budd beat Gina in kickboxing, Cat is a good clinch striker though not amazing at range, Miesha was never afraid of being punched before the Pennington fight and beat Eye standing.
"Elite strikers" <36>

The Royce analogy sucks because WMMA has been around for more than 15 years, she's more like Brock or even Conor a great specialist flawed in other areas who eventually runs into bad style matchups.

This. She is not Royce Gracie, she is like Brock. Gracie never knock out anyone, not even guys that can't strike.

The only two strikers that could match her physically

this really pissed me off when i saw the fight. if she didn't do that, then she might have been (not saying that she definitely would) the first person to beat ronda. guess now we'll probably never know.
especially in hindsight, yeah (considering what just happened in her last two fights)

Basically. She's fought some ok ones, but Nunes and Holm were the only 2 I reckon that had very good/dangerous talents on the feet.

It's the best comparison

Miesha is afraid of being punched, Cat Zingano is an okay striker, but she acted braindead against Ronda.

Holm and Nunes came from better camps than Ronda, Cat, and Miesha.

You are wrong. Even after getting knocked out by Holm she did not train striking seriously. And another thing is I dont think most of you give Nunes enough respect for her striking ability.

They are the only real strikers she's faced. Cat is a bit of a jack of all trades. Can strike but isn't particularly stellar at it. Nunes throws powerful straight punches and Holm doesn't need any explanation as to what she brings.

Rousey has been facing girls that either can't sit on a punch or immediately play into her grappling. Cat is a victim of the latter, for example.

Her knees are shot. Developing a wrestling game in the sense you mean isn't a particularly realistic goal at this point.

She doesn't need to become an elite striker. Just competent enough to get inside and utilize her A-game.

But she's probably done anyway, so moot point.

The same people who don't rate Nunes' striking are largely the same ones who think Rumble isn't one of the most "skilled" strikers, thought Woodley would be destroyed by Wonderboy standing and dismissed Cody as a sloppy brawler before the Cruz fight I think.

There's some degree of elitist bias on these boards against power puncher types compared to more elusive "technicians" when the former style is just as valid, effectiveness>"looking technical"

Yes.

Tate, Cat, Davis, McMann and LOL Bethe all have poor striking.
