Are body modifications legal in MMA?

Just wondering about the legality of body modifications. Is there a rule against them? If not it might just be a matter of time before fighters are augmenting their bodys for fighting advantages. For example fighters might start sharpening their elbows, reinforcing their shins or attaching horns into the neck to prevent chokes. Maybe turn an entire arm into a sword or axe arm.

Is this the future of MMA?

Does anyone know the actual rules on body modification or is there any? Surely having horns on your head would be dangerous and having reinforced shinbones would be an unfair advantage?
