Hi guys - Sorry to bother again I searched and didn't see anything here. But for a first AR I think I have it narrowed down.

They are within the realm of costs of each other. The Springfields cost a bit more but I'd have to buy sights for the S&W so they might be about even. Springfield also comes with a hard case or soft case.

Ignore the grip b/c California has stupid rules I would replace with something better. Ignore red dot vs flip up sights. I'd have to spend $100 on the Sport II to buy flip up sights. I'd add a red dot later to the Saints.

If you guys had to choose (and in the grand scheme of life the $160ish difference isn't a deal breaker), which is a better gun? Are they basically the same but personal preference?

Springfield Saint:

S&W M&P 15 Sport II optics ready version b/c the barrel is threaded:

Another addition if I really want a higher quality entry (oxymoron I know): Saint Victor

Thanks man. I thought about online like Buds gun shop but my local FFL is gonna charge like $70 for transfer I believe. brings the cost pretty close to even.
I should call and double check.

any reason for the sport II over the saint ?
Mainly personal preference.

I too recommend the mp15. Just has a nice feel to it.
