So I had been training MMA for about a year and I had lost 50 or so pounds. Last April I got spiked on my head by some newb in class who didn't realize you don't try to really hurt someone while rolling. Needless to say I got hurt pretty seriously. I have a herniated disc that has effectively put me on the sidelines for the last 7 months. I have been trying to maintain a healthy diet but the weight is coming back on and thats the last thing I want...

I can't do any physical activity right now (per doctor) and I just want to see if anyone knew of a supplement or anything that they used to help with appetite control?

I really appreciate any hints or help since it looks like I'm going to be on the sidelines for a while.

drink coffee and suffer through the hunger. then don't eat as much.

Yeah I honestly say the best option is to suffer through the pain for a given time and your body will get used to it eventually. You probably don't want to use hunger suppressing stimulants on top of an unhealthy lifestyle, especially if you were overweight previously. Geranium extract (1,3-dimethylamylamine) is a good option for hunger suppression though if you absolutely have to use it. Has effects similar to Adderall (amphetamine) with a shorter half life. This will give you more hunger suppression than caffeine but can also cause you to crash a bit more too.

Good luck!

i chew gum or sleep but when im done chewing or sleeping im hungry again then its all will power after that

You have an injury that prevents you from doing anything? Like you can't even walk? Either you need to find some way to be more active or practice willpower. If you live a stagnant lifestyle there is no reason to eat more than what you need. If being fit after you recover is a priority for you, you should probably dig deep and suck it up.

I can definitely walk but thats about it... the herniated disc is pushing on a nerve which is causing numbness on my arm. I hear you... Just suck it up. I guess I was trying to look for some miracle thing...

Thanks

Well, the coffee will help with the hunger a little bit, but most of your battle will be mental. Maybe try picking up a new hobby that you can practice instead of eating? Like, everytime you get hungry, pick up that hobby and focus on it til your next meal time. That might help. I started a body transformation/reformed my eating habits recently, and found that distracting your brain from thinking about food is pretty much the only (effective) way to prevent crappy between meal snacking. It's like the eternal test of wills between my fat self and my healthy self.

Food.

The right meal composition will be all you need. Obviously eat less calories than when you were training, but if you take in adequate protein, fat, and nutrients your appetite will curb itself. Include fatty animal protein, a heap of good vegetables (ie, not salads made of lettuce), and some fruit in each meal and you'll be fine after a while. Keep your carbohydrate intake outside that spectrum low.

Hot green tea with lemon, it's a much healthier option. I would also suggest that is where you increase your veg-a-getable intake. Realistically, you can eat a heap and it's only 35 calories.

This is almost a good idea. But I don't condone advising a lot of carbohydrates in the form of fruit and vegetables, then advising low carbohydrates (I'm guessing in the form of more refined sugars and starches). That's a bit of a conundrum. The body doesn't discriminate so much that it's alright to consume carbs throughout the day even in what's perceived as biologically different sources and it won't promote fat storage. Which is why the most detrimentally overdone food for people looking to be physically fit is fruit and fruit juices.

However I do condone the high protein and higher fat (particularly animal fat) approach for appetite control. Also if any carbs are to be utilized, I'd suggest they come from particularly high fibrous sources, but IMO overall carb intake should be markedly lower than protein and fat. This approach has the most consistent clinical success in dealing specifically with perceived hunger.

I know I'm in the minority here as most of the psoters here stay away from thermogenics like the plague, and with good reason, but I would say to look in to USP Labs Recreate. I got a free bottle to try and have been using it for a couple of weeks now. It has killed my appetite. I'm still training hard and that usually causes me to be ravenous at al times, but this has completely killed food cravings, and I feel full faster. I've tried a lot fo different thermogenics in the past and nothing made a difference to me. This is the only weight loss product I've ever taken that has done anything for me, and the efect is noticeable.

Drink lots and lots of water that's what I do before a meal I drink 24oz 16 of it warm and 8 ice cold
