In a recent podcast a fighter that visited Mirko briefly mentioned that Mirko had praised Stipe for being incredibly and deceivingly strong. Thats high praise coming from a legend that has seen everything combat sports has to offer.

I’ve said this for a long time. There’s a huge difference between a real athlete who weighs 230 in their best condition and a fat wrestler who was 185 in college, like most heavyweights. Or even the bloated strikers like Overeem and JDS.

Stipe is a fuckin huge dude. And he can go 25. People don’t get excited about Stipe’s simple style and personality, so he’ll never get his due. And DC won’t get the credit he deserves for beating him the first time.

..he's significantly bigger than Bader, who's far from a manlet as well and as already mentioned on here, Stipe carries not a lot of fat and isn't overly muscular for his weight either, so he's one of the best suited people to fight at heavyweight, considering their natural build.

In round 1 of his second fight vs Cormier when he was on bottom, I remember seeing Stipe grab both of dc's wrists and DC literally had to fight with all his strength to get his hands free from Stipe's grip.

People don't realize how insane that is, Stipe's grip strength is probably other-worldly.
