Boxing - Margarito accepts Cotto fight

I can't seem to recall what Margarito has done to merit at title shot for Cotto's WBA super-welterweight title...but it would appear the eye injury isn't as bad as speculated or Margarito is taking a big risk with his vision...

How do you guys see this turning out?

LOL at NYC too.

I hope this happens at Yankee Stadium and Marg wins so I can see the crowd trying to take his head off

Personally, if Margarito has anything left I think this fight ruins both of them...odds are Chavez Jr. gets to fight the remains next year...

However, I don't think Margarito has anything left and that Cotto flogs him for 7 rounds before his corner stops the fight...both guys are slower, more hittable and vulnerable that they were earlier in their respective careers. That said it should be an excellent action fight, I'll certainly tune in.

Although Margarito hasn't done anything to warrant a title shot. Cotto does deserve a shot at redemption.

With that said, I think this will turn out to be a hell of a fight and I look forward to Cotto beating Margaritos ass. (hopefully)

margarito didn't earn a title shot versus pacman...in fact neither earned that shot.
cotto didn't do anything at 154 to earn his title shot either.

bob and jose were seen at a candle lit dinner last night. you do the math.

Cotto didn't earn his shot at the title when he fought Foreman (first fight at 154, coming off a loss to Pac) so who cares?

I'm actually excited for this fight
I hope Cotto can get revenge

good point, I must have forgot...Austin Trout must be pissed he's the WBA "regular" champ and is likely more deserving a shot than Margarito but I guess the background and name status makes this fight viable...even though its like a revolving door...

The whole world knows Margarito only got to the top with his loaded wraps. Since they were uncovered he hasnt put a scratch on any of his opponents and has also taken some savage punishment.
Cotto will go all out in this fight to get revenge .

Yeah... the fact that the ref is holding margs wrapped hand after the cotto fight proves that he was in on helping Marg cheat too.

ha!

i disagree about the outcome of the second fight though.

Tony hasn't been Tony since the first Cotto fight. His chin isn't holding up and he's yet to prove he has that extra gear he's so famous for.

Definitively. Cotto got wrecked himself, but lets not forget the monumental beating Tony took in order to break Cotto down. Both fighters were damaged in the fight.

I do not care about titles at the moment, both will retire within a couple years and the titles will be open for those who deserve them. I have been wanting to see this rematch before the whole glove scandal from the Mosley fight. That bullshit just made the tension that much deeper for a rematch. Cotto is going to get his revenge and run through Tony, and I will smile.
