Apparently fighting back at the END of the round is enough to win the round

Despite the fact that you get beaten for most the round, fight back at the end, because that's the only thing the judges will remember.
 
He didn't just "fight back," he had Gus BADLY hurt in that round, while Gus never had him hurt. To me, that's winning a round.
 
Yeah generally when you have someone badly hurt at the end of the round and in danger of stoppage, that's enough to win you the round.

All fighters take a look up at the clock. Fighters pace themselves and usually turn it up at the end of a round whether they think they are done or not.
