Economy AOC and co. vindicated: Amazon expanding in NY without massive giveaway from gov.

Hahahahah Do you fall for those Nigerian prince scams too?

LOL @ 'incentive' they were gonna give Amazon 3$ billion just to come to NYC. Now they expanded anyways because NYC stayed their hand and didnt have to pay that ridiculous amount of money, and NYC will still get tax revenue. Which Im glad they did because NYC>Amazon or any company. If they would have paid the 3$ billion Amazon would have only added a few jobs and likely would have picked up once another city offered the same deal. Then NYC would be in the hole for $3billion for years to come. For someone who claims to be a business guru you sure fall for some zhitty deals.

Amazon wanted $120,000 per employee to move there.Ridiculous. Like I said would you go to a store that charged you just to enter it? Face it, NYC and AOC were right here.

It's the cuck/slave mentality.

What is good for master, is good for me.

Ignore that if Amazon isn't paying taxes, that someone has to.

Ignore that a tax break for Amazon means a tax raise for you, or cuts to social services where you live.

That, or they are paid Amazon employees posting here.

Oh sweetheart, you thought it was a spending bill and they were going to cut Bezos a check for $3 billion? Well bless your heart.

They were in tax credits from existing programs that already offer them to other businesses.

$897 million from REAP-The Relocation and Employment Assistance Program (REAP) offers business income tax credits for relocating jobs from outside of New York City or below 96th Street in Manhattan to designated locations above 96th Street in Manhattan or in one of the other four boroughs.

$386 from ICAP-This program provides abatements for property taxes for periods of up to 25 years. To be eligible, industrial and commercial buildings must be built, modernized, expanded, or otherwise physically improved. ICAP replaced the Industrial Commercial Exemption Program (ICIP) which ended in 2008. Previously approved ICIP benefits were not affected.

$1.2 billion in excelsior jobs program tax credits contingent upon meeting job creation goals.

The only actual spending would have been a capital grant for a few hundred million, which isn't nothing but would have been recouped and probably doubled in tax revenue the first year. BTW, the entire thing would have come out to $48,000/job, not $120,000.

Again, these grants and tax credit incentive programs weren't invented for amazon, they already exist and would have been applied to amazon, and not just amazon. As I've said before, I don't like that their taxes are so high they have to offer these special programs for certain people and businesses to not drive away business, but that's not what we're arguing, and AOC and the city shit the bed and cost their city billions.

The nonsense about jobs going to Virginia gets debunked halfway through this video.

Most of the jobs are already held by current Amazon employees who are relocating to the area and fucking up the real estate market for locals.

The "Rational National"-- is that like Zerohedge for moronic socialists?

My source mentions the Virigina HQ already existed, but once NYC spurned them, Amazon diverted those expansion plans to Virginia; corroborated by the NYT who notes their planned 25,000 HQ2 jobs were secured, and with the potential to expand that to 38,000 later.
The New York Times said:
Late last month, the Virginia legislature overwhelmingly passed a $750 million incentive package for Amazon, which the governor signed into law. It provides Amazon with $550 million in grants for the first 25,000 jobs it creates, and $200 million more for creating 12,850 additional jobs in subsequent years.

Officials in Nashville, which landed a smaller development project from Amazon, with about 5,000 jobs, also drew distinctions between their approach and New York’s. The city and Tennessee offered a combined $102 million in tax incentives, significantly less per job than New York’s multibillion-dollar promise. And Nashville’s offer didn’t come with some of the attention-grabbing perks that New York’s did.
You're quite gullible, and easily bamboozled according to your confirmation biases, aren't you?

This is thread worthy, but got the dubs.

This is why modern monetary theory is gaining steam.

As much as I am concerned by our deficit spending, I'm not convinced it matters.

Current monetary theory is dead. The market is not working the way it is supposed to.

Trump economic adviser Larry Kudlow: Hats off to AOC, she 'nailed' her questions to Fed chair

Top White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow applauded Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Thursday for her questions to Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell during a House hearing.

Speaking on "Fox & Friends," the National Economic Council director pointed out that it was Ocasio-Cortez that asked Powell about the Phillips Curve, which theorizes that as the unemployment rate falls, wages rise and thus, inflation accelerates.

Ocasio-Cortez stated to Powell that the theory "is no longer describing what is happening in today's economy," and the chairman agreed.

"It was Ms. AOC who asked him about the Phillips Curve. Why is rising growth and employment and low unemployment bad? Why does that cause inflation and higher interest rates? And Jay Powell said, 'Well you're right. That thing hasn't worked in decades.' Now, I got to give her high marks for that. She got that out of the chairman," Kudlow said

In her own way, she is aging that everything is rigged and we use funny money. She’s right.

Those who own the Fed, the world bank, the IMF, and own every national bank, and control world banking have rugged everything.

Deficit spending doesn’t matter. Every dollar printed is just debt to “them”.

Nothing matters.

Dude, I think you know the answer to that first question. The moment dude started talking, with the "I'm to apathetic to project so I'm going to queef out some words" beginning, I stopped.

Everybody ignore this and keep thinking aoc was correct. It's the 2nd time he posted it, why process the info now? Head, meet sand.
Also, let's keep thinking tax incentives=NYC writing a check to Amazon

Amazon is expanding EVERYWHERE. NYC is NOT getting nearly the amount of expansion they were set to get, that is a loss.

But hey, lets say they get 500-1000 new jobs, hooray; that’s obviously a substantial gain in a city of millions

You talk about being gullible quoting NYT just shows how gullible you're on the matter. Tax breaks never live up to the hype promised an hurts small business because they are not able to get similar tax break deals. As a percentage of their jobs they create about 120,000 per employee.

You can bet if they handed out 3 billion to Amazon how long before Uber, Google an Facebook threaten to leave the area if they cannot get similar deals at least millions for expansion.

I'm not sure I comprehend your satire, here, but the moment this Doel moron starting shitting on Virginia because all the jobs the HQ2 is bringing is driving up house prices there was the only indicator any intelligent observer would need to realize that he's listening to an Op-Ed from someone who isn't a serious, educated person.

Somewhere in here is a meaningful argument. I'm sure you'll find it if you try harder.

I know you are too dumb to reason with as you’ve plainly illustrated to me in many posts but that was a movie called “teeth” and losing out on a great deal only to receive 1/3 of it....if that is something that not even your fake lawyer persona can spin here
Yep, comparing your post history, I concur pan is a dumbo and you are a well read intellectual............. <{cruzshake}>

It was obvious that the entire contest that they staged between cities in the US was horseshit when they didn't go anywhere near the high bidders. They'd pre-selected NYC and were just trying to see what they could extract from the government for moving there.

Bezos also got a bunch of cities to give his company free info about local demographics, infrastructure etc. that they normally would have had to pay to research themselves.

Seems as tho some facts were left out.
Like the simple fact that the 6 million square foot space is actually being built in Virginia.

https://www.bizjournals.com/washington/c/amazon-asked-arlington-to-remove-total-square-feet.html

One thing you can always count on is being wrong in believing piranha mouth.

Right, there'll only be 5% as many jobs because the city isn't paying for Bezos's private helipad.

Fuck outta here.

Lmao and she (nor a lot of the clowns in this thread) even mention that..

Her tweet reads as if those 25k jobs are still coming..

When in fact it's a fraction.. and it's in fucking Manhattan and not Queens (her district)..

Typical misleading BS from AOC and these idiots fool for it
