get used to slipping punches that is good for head movement, get a training partner to throw while you slip instead of blocking,

shadow boxing, the double end bag are both good aswell

pee..your from the bay area so i'll bite.

i could say tyson. i could say frazier...you know short guys but you know what?

alexis arguello used his head but timed his punches and then chained the punched he landed into combinations. its not just about moving your head to land a bomb.

he was taller than most of his opponents but his head movement allowed him to be sucessfull as he went up in weight.

he was so subtle with his movement but watch his head closely. it never stops moving and he's always timing a punch off of his movement

I'd like to acknowledge the 1 year anniversary of his passing (Thursday 7/1) he will always be an idol of mine.

thanks man. my head doesn't move enough, and when it does its literally to avoid a hook or right hand and to slip a jab only. i like what you mean about Aruguello, all sound advice.

Footwork. (Skip to 51 seconds if you want to see his footwork, not the drill)

watch Smokin Joe chase Bob around the ring but watch how his head never stops bobbing up and down, and side to side.

In this watch how Nico using head movement to never get hit with the second shot.

Great post. You can even watch The Thrilla in Manila for good head movement; the whole fight was basically Frazier trying to work around Ali's jab and get inside.

Great post. I love Arguello, he's one of the fighters that made me actually want to get into a boxing gym and learn the craft. RIP; I'm still bumed about it.

Check out Pernell Whitaker while you're at it. He had great movement in general to avoid punches.
