I have never used reddit.

I am curious is there a better mma community there? Not disrespecting this forum.
I'm sure some of you two time?

Let me know if it is any good.

Thanks.

Browsed it occasionally in the past. Didn't like it.

Geeky kid at work that I despise adores it so that's enough for me to not go on it.

It's ugly but there are some good subs there. It's cool to have so many different discussion forums in one place.

It's horrible, full of arseholes. Sherdog forums much better and friendlier.

Reddit is the reason why forums have turned into crap.

I use it to gain information. I treat it as a resource. It's too big for any true sense of community, and as has already been mentioned, the GUI is shit.

I glance at the free folk reddit now for GOT updates thats it

if you want a community with recognizable members, stay on sherdog

if you want a vast amount of information and content, go on 4chan

reddit is where people go to post 4chan content to get upvotes from people who cant handle 4chan. thats where like 90% of their "good"content comes from

Downloading RES (reddit enhancement suite) makes the shitty GUI slightly easier to live with. I fucking love reddit, it's easily the site I use most on the internet. The trick is to unsubscribe from the majority of the default subs and really customise your homepage to subs you're interested in.

/r/boardgames
/r/kerbalspaceprogram
/r/humansbeingbros
/r/askreddit

those 4 subs are awesome.

4chan is for virgin neckbeards. so basically like sherdog, but with more sociopathy.

Bad GUI but it seems like a lot of people I know in the disc golf community use it. I use the disc golf sub and that's it.

Don't post there but it's a ok site. Good subs for certain things, some good threads in the mma and boxing sections.

I work for Conde Nast so we're supposed to be on it every day, but yeah this place is much nicer lol

Cons: User interface sucks, upvoting system can incentivize undesired consequences
Pros: A great resource for finding information or opinions on just about anything. Subreddits (subforums) exist on almost any conceivable topic

I always thought of it as a popularity contest trying to get to voted to the top, where a lot of good conversations gets tossed in a corner because it wasn't on top.

There's some truth to that, but it in most cases the top comments are usually the most helpful and informative (or at least the most entertaining).

That's not exactly what happens. Because there is a downvote option people use that to downvote stuff they disagree with rather than it's intended use to downvote stuff that isn't relevant to the topic. The problem with that is the hive mind takes over so unless your opinions are in line with the majority of the other users your voice wont be heard.
