His second title shot due to the disaster of him vs Anderson? I honestly feel Dana was about as pissed off as he could be with that entire situation. I think it was a form of punishment. Dude deserved the shot quite a while ago.

It was Andersons fault not Maia.

He was acting like it was dance night.

It's cause he's not polarizing he's not ambiguous and he's a nice normal guy who refuses to make a persona for himself other than what I mentioned.....he don't make no $$$

Its because he kept losing once he got close to one. He didnt really deserve a shot until after he beat Condit.

People shit on Anderson for that fight, and rightfully so, but I was more disappointed with Maia because at least Silva was winning and keeping his title. Maia just stood around and watched his title shot go down the drain. So yeah, that might have something to do with it, along with his soft spoken demeanor and backpack BJJ style.

Dana seemed more angry at Anderson than he did at Damien. I think his title shot being this slow to arrive is more a result of his fight style.

He did say fuck it towards the end and at least tried to take it to Silva...

Just a little to late.

Just a little to late.

Those punches while on his knees were pretty hilarious, but then again so is the fact that they landed.

Uncle Dana can just as spiteful as my friend's ex wife

He got it when he deserved it. He probably deserved it after he beat Condit but that's it.

This and casuals don't like overly dominant grapplers

I do think it played a factor, but I think it's because Maia is so focused on grappling that took him so long to get another shot.

The UFC will always pick a striker over a grappler for a title shot if they are the next two in line for one - unless it's GSP.

I must be the only one who found Anderson vs Maia to be oddly amusing. Lol

Andy must have pulled out every fighter impersonation in his arsenal that night.

I love "The Royce."

That Silva fight was weird: but honestly, Silva wouldn't risk the ground with Maia and Maia didn't have many options. It did suck.

Woodley is another tall order for Maia. I have mixed feelings about the whole thing: I think Maia deserves the shot, but I don't think he's at Woodley's level, like he wasn't at Silva's level. But Maia's career is odd like that, I really hope he can win, he's like a "normal dude" in the midst of freaks.

Masvidal is one of the hardest-to-read and hardest-to-time strikers around and hits pretty hard for the division, and Maia hung off his back for a long time. I pray Maia wins because, regardless of what you think of his personality, it's nigh on impossible to be more annoying and less marketable than Woodley.
