Does anyone study their opponents more than Jon Jones?

You have some people who watch a bit of footage but mostly focus on what they are gong to do, but he definitely seems to have an obsessive attitude towards learning everything about his opponents, which works amazing for him. I remember seeing once he had like a three or four page document of every combo that ever hit Rashad Evans before the two fought, and he was studying and reviewing that constantly like a college text book.

Jon Jones on being prepared

I'm sure that most top level fighters study as much as Jon. Especially GSP.

Most top fighter's trainers look at film and study their opponents. The Jones camp does this as well, but Jon Jones takes it to another level- becoming" obsess" looking up youtube clips/interviews and reading up on his foes. Greg Jackson and Winklejohn both have stated that Jones has become VERY good at studying tape and discovering tendencies.

Seriously though Shogun did an insane amount of preparation for Machida, I don't know of anyone that went to those lengths to prepare for a specific opponent.

Only person I can think of is Melvin Guillard

Only guys I know that studies his opponents more than he does are Sherdoggers.

This man is a look-see-do fighter

This man is a vale tudo fighter.

I'm sure it's common practice to study opponents, but I doubt "most" top fighters study just as much as Jones. He's said repeatedly that he goes to pretty extreme lengths in studying his opponents. He attributes his success, more than anything to the "obsessive" level at which he does this.

Maybe not the fighters but the coaches do.

If only he had done that much studying against Jones. Maybe the fight wouldnt have looked so god awful

GSP seems like he prepares better than anyone when it comes to accessing his opponent.
