When Brock became UFC HW champion, Fedor was on a 25-fight winning streak (arguably undefeated with a 29-fight winning streak) and had just destroyed the previous UFC HW champion in 36 seconds.

Nobody who paid any attention to worldwide MMA thought Brock Lesnar was the #1 HW in the world at any time during his reign as UFC champ, and he was nowhere close to being the lineal world HW champ.

It would have been an interesting fight, but it looked to me like a bad match-up for Lesnar at the time. Fedor wasn't easy to take down and Lesnar's striking was rudimentary.
