I live a 1000 miles from any ocean, so it is a task, and uber expensive, to get what I need. I just want a couple kgs of live rock and some copepods. Live rock, as it was 20 years ago, with new laws, does not seem to exist. And copepods have less than a day to travel or they die. So any ideas on the building blocks of a marine tank are welcome.

You need a specialist to take care of your saltwater aquarium

I have a few freshwater tanks. I haven't done saltwater in about 15 years. Watch some YouTube videos about the basics and you should be fine if you are aquarium experienced.

You can get live rock online if you can't get it local. Just be sure it's cured and you take the proper steps on setting up and cycling your tank. Don't rush it since saltwater everything is expensive compared to freshwater. Although I bet my 3 freshwater tanks have close to 2000 dollars total in setup and equipment.

Slow and steady with all fish tanks. A cycle crash can put you down money quickly if livestock dies.
