This is sticking out of the front of a Mercedes at work it looka like an actuator of some sort. Its only on one side

If I’m not mistaken, that’s an adapter to attach a license plate holder through the tow bar hole. Are they missing their license plate?

It's for strapping it down when you dyno it. I do diesel emissions testing and that's where we hook the strap to.
