So, just stuck one in my car today, and im not entirely sure why i have one, the video is great, its 4k so is clear, but you cant really make out number plates, so im not sure how effective it will be if i am in an accident

will be great for showing off stupid shit though i guess, like 97% of dashcam videos out there

Americans, why do some cars not have numberplates on them, is it the back, the front?

Yes, but I haven't had to review any footage yet

I'm driving a Tesla Model Y so yes I have a dash cam and all sorts of other cams as well

Would the extreme heat from the car in the sun wreck the camera's insides and battery?

I had a fairly cheap one in Alberta for years, so it was exposed to both extreme heat and extreme cold and it always held up fine

Yea i got one, has saved people i know in court when it comes to crashes and whos fault it is

I have one. I've had a few close calls where, if things went bad, I'm glad I had a camera.

The way people drive where I live I'd be dumb to not have one.

I had one for several years and it is nice to have. Unfortunately I had a bad day at work, ripped it off the
mount, and destroyed it like an idiot.

I need to get a new one.

Where are you from? Here in Manila Philippines road conditions can get really crazy. Bad drivers bad traffic enforcers and stupid traffic and vehicle manslaughter laws. So yeah at times dashcams is your best protection.

Boy if I will post my dashies here you will just here me scream and curse often with all the idiots.

I live in the tropics. So I remove them during may day-offs as my garage does not have a roof yet. I just had mine for like 2 months.

I lived in Silicon Valley for years so used to see quite a few but per capita saw more in Somerset in England which is a massive retirement county so it was a bit of a joke that you had to be over a certain fuddy duddy type age to own a Tesla.

Are you in your 80s? Way before the Elon stuff aren't they old people cars?

K, got the joke. No one brags about driving Teslas.
indeed, who would even own to having driven one, let alone owning one

I think I've only been in one Tesla UBER in Vegas and it was pretty comfy. Hence all the OAPs in SW England love them so much.

i sat in one when i went to buy my new car the other week, feels like something a kid would design inside, plus it was ugly as hell

I don't mind them, I'm 50 now so maybe I just want a comfy ride haha.
I worked for a big tech company in Silicon Valley and the main female boss used to come in complaining about the gaz guzzling cars taking up the spaces in EV allotted spaces. It was a public parking lot so nothing I could do about it if I even wanted to.

it just seemed very very basic inside, im a bit of a gadget fiend so like my bells and whistles and well...to say they are minimalistic is an understatement, i ended up with a Mach-E, absolutely lovely to drive and stunning in the inside, proper luxury car, driving round Europe in July so we will be travelling in comfort
