Just curious if you or anyone you know has had their name changed.
(not including last name by marriage)

Would you?

Thoughts?

yep legal changed my name. no one ever called me the name i was born with.

My father slightly altered his last name when he moved to Canada. Made it easier to pronounce.

I want to change my name but I'd feel guilty, like I was insulting my paternal ancestors. Plus, I have a fairly unique surname (in the area of the country I live in, at least), so at least I have that going for me.

But I want to change it to something ridiculous like Toshiro Kurosawa. It'd be a total mindfuck when I fill out some form and the person who looks at it expects some Japanese dude to show up, and not a 6'2" white dude.

My dad changed his surname (Singh) He had a white mum and and an Indian father who he never met and got bullied as a kid for being called Billy Singh.

He changed his name when he was 16 as he didn't want his kids growing up and getting the same abuse that he got.

I want to legally changed the spelling of my last name. It's legally spelled Noblit. I want to change it back the the original French spelling of Noblet, pronounced No-blAY. I already pronounce it the French way, but legally my last name is still Noblit. Unlike what some have mentioned about it being disrespectful to their family. I feel like I'd be honoring my family more by going back to original French spelling.
