A reunion of living members of the homebrew computing club is happening at the computer museum in Northern California. A number of original members of the homebrew computer club is going to be attending this one of kind event in California. I would go but I live on the east coast and would cost a bit of money to attend. They are holding the fund raiser on Kickstarter and tickets are 65 dollars each. If you kick in 128 dollars you get a limited one of a kind tee shirt. You can expect people like Steve Wozniak and captain crunch attending this unique event. I know Jeri Ellsworth is likely going to this event because she just posted it on her facebook she is developing the VR glasses gaming device.

So where are they meeting? I didn't see the location on the link.

They used to meet at the EE building at Stanford. That building doesn't exist anymore, the Packard building replaced it.

Skip this shit and create your own revolution.

I do admit I enjoy meeting people who were present when these transformational things occurred, I just can't be bothered to attend one of thee things.

What is the point of combining these two things? Is it literally nothing more than bringing together people who like both computers and beer? I'm not seeing the connection.

Had nothing to do with brewing beer. They met to exchange ideas, schematics, and different parts/circuits/etc. for creating homemade or DIY personal computers and other electronic devices.

    Same.

Although, I imagine back in the 70's/80's it was probably pretty freakin' exciting being on the forefront of both the legitimate electronics/computing culture and the subversive hacking/phreaking sub-culture.

The original Homebrew Computer Club were the OGs of Silicon Valley.

Coming up in the BBSes of the late 80s and the early 90s, those guys were gods amongst men.
