Weidman who just turned BJJ Black belt after 6 years, has been known as a prodigy for a while now. He gets alot of respect from fellow grapplers and even Roger Gracie says Weidman could potentially tap him out.

Now,

I've seen and I've heard that Weidman has one of the sickest guillotine/choke combos in the game right now but after watching Chris go at it with Machida, it made me think about why Weidman had such a hard time putting him away, while Rockhold (who is less heralded in that respect) made it look easy.

I have somewhat of an understanding of his ground game, but can someone elaborate on why/how good it really is?

I've seen that video. Those commentators were on Andre galvao's nutsack.

Can you elaborate though? Do you 'know' what you're watching? @x9lonewolf

Weidman's BJJ is legit. But the flying arm bar Vinny pulled on Weidman was a thing of beauty.

Andre Galvao is easily top 10 bjjers in the whole world. For Chris, to be able to perform that well as a blue belt is incredible even with his amazing wrestling credentials. He is definitely a prodigy. Most blue belts wouldnt last more than 30 seconds against someone like Andre Galvao.

Lol
I like how guys bring up videos or matches from like 5 years ago and think that Weidmans game hasn't evolved any since then .
A guy like Chris just came in to his prime recently .

You realize he posted the video showing how even at the beginning of his BJJ career he was already a beast and has obviously gotten better.

I didnt post it as saying Chris Weidman sucks because he lost to Galvao. I posted it saying as a complete noob, Weidman was able to hang with Galvao. Which is very shocking that someone with that little of experience being able to hang with Galvao. Atos has some of the worlds best grapplers(JT Torres who almost tapped out a significantly larger Rory at Metamoris, Keenan who tapped out Dean Lister). This is Andre Galvao's school. He is a monster.

Rockold ended the Machida fight with that elbow, for all intents and purposes.

The fact that everyone from GSP to Renzo describes Weidman as Aaron a different level is high praise.

Also, Rockold is a highly respected grappler in his own right.

If The Chris sunk the choke in that day, the BJJ world would've imploded.

I have heard he was nearly impossible to tap after a couple months of being a white belt at Serra's. The guy is a beast.

With less than 6 months of BJJ he beat someone better than Rockhold has ever submitted in his entire career.

Not to take anything away from Rockhold because the guy has a sick ground game but Machida did not look good going into that fight against Rockhold. He didn't have a good cut and I don't think to many people were surprised by the outcome of that fight.

not to mention that machida was clearly hurt when he was choked out. It's not like Rockhold shot in on him in the 1st minute of the fight and then got a choke.
