It started about 3 weeks ago for me. The outside/lateral part of my right knee hurts when my right leg is bent 90 degrees or lower. It's the same feeling I got from tendinitis in my elbow, painful when touched.

It hurts when I close my guard, sit on my heels, or sit indian style on the ground. I've read all about it and it sounds like only rest, some advil, and ice will help, but I haven't tried the foam roller yet. Anyone who has beaten this can tell me about their experience?

R.I.C.E. and stretching is how I manage that pain as well.

Yoga is the biz.

Foam roller it as much as you can take it, going from just above the knee to just below the hip (don't actually go over any joints). Any time you find a place that hurts, just hang out there and either massage it into oblivion or else relax and hope it releases on its own.

Then do the basic one foot over the other and bend down stretch. For kicks make sure you also roll out and stretch out your quads, hamstrings, calves, and hip flexors in case tightness in one of those is somehow causing your IT band issues.

It sucks, but it goes away. If you are a runner, consider running on soft surfaces instead of hard pavement.

Irritable bowel syndrome is no joke. A teammate had it and blew out his brand new Shoyoroll gi pants!

Oh, ITB, not IBS... okay, what did your doctor say? My lateral knee pain was caused by a meniscus/LCL tear so make sure it's not that, I guess.
