You know you get some horrid cavity that hits the nerve of the tooth, so they disinfect it, remove it, seal it, then either fabricate a tooth and put it over, or put a big ass filling in what’s left of your original tooth.

Ever have one?

How was it?

Yup , it was fine, even on our dental system. Stuck a whole lot of anaesthetic in there so I couldn't feel anything, including when I tried biting through my lip.

Got an extraction next week, looking forward to that ...

I've had a few done and they went well. You have to find a dentist who is reliable and trustworthy perhaps through a referral. The first time I had a root canal procedure started, the bitch dentist barely gave me anything to deal with the pain and rushed through the procedure and basically told me to deal with it. After that I found a dentist who was 1000 x more professional and courteous.

I've had 2, and the first one wasn't bad, second one could've been better.
Second one hurt towards the end, probably the novacaine wearing off though.

Overall the teeth were a lot better afterwards sir.

Yep, like he said, having a good dentist so you don't feel the procedure is nice.

during COVID, my father-in-law couldn't go to the dentist, so he took pliers and took the tooth out himself...be thankful you don't have to do that. Mind you he's an old Scotman, late 60's.

I always heard horror stories about root canals but when I had one, it didnt really hurt at all, the burning tooth smell was the worst part

I brush my teeth so I haven't had one.

Hope that helps.

Brushing my teeth wouldn't have helped breaking my tooth in half with a football helmet (long story).
Second root canal I was having weird pains in my front incisor and it was a small crack in the back of it that was exposing the nerve.

I brush my teeth but shit happens sir ;)

It's been a long time, but yeah I had one as a kid.

Ive also had the filling fall off and then my tooth got really infected after that. They wanted to do a second root canal and I just told them nah pull the tooth.

What was the recovery like after it was yanked ?

Not bad. I didn't even accept the pain medicine since I'm trying to stay sober.

Worst part was not being able to drink through a straw or smoke cigarettes for a few days.

Yup. They give you anesthesia and you don’t feel a thing. Piece of cake.

I had one about 10 years ago. I was pretty nervous going in but it ended up not being that bad. I had hernia surgery, heart surgery, and knee surgery so this was a piece of cake. I didn't take any painkillers afterward, just numbed it up during the procedure. It's really not as bad as people make it out t be.

Had just 1 back in college. The pain before the root canal was the worst pain I’ve ever had. I asked my friend to punch me in the jaw it hurt so bad. The nerves just were all over my face .

took 4 norcos one time during work not recommended
Also don’t drink Gatorade

Hi @Home_Slice !

I have had a root canal, it really hurt. Even with the pain killing stuff injected into me. I do not recommend a root canal unless you are sure it's necessary! Sometimes dentists just want the work

Bye!

About 25 years ago I needed one. I told my dentist to stop being a can and just the pull the tooth. She obliged and basically just pulled it for free.

I've had a few, maybe 3 or 4. Not painful but my dentist is really good. One of them I was sore later that day like I got punched but that's it.

Yep. Once. It was an unpleasant procedure to say the least.

Take fentanyl before the operation and you should be fine
