I got an email pop up on my messenger that said it was a reply from an ebay seller. I opened the email but didnt click on any link and after that I got flooded with emails that all said reply ebay. I didnt click on them and sent them all to spam but just by opening that first email the cocksuckers got my password and started sending emails from me to my contacts. How the hell can they get your info just from you opening the email? Can they put a keylogger just in the header now?
Yeah My in-laws often get emails from me with links to buy teh little blue pills. Cant a grown ass man EVER fap in private:icon_evil
I got hacked just this weekend. Still Im not 100% sure from where (I have a laptop, smartphone and tablet and I can see my email from all those sources) The most likely caused that I can think of is that nigh my wife downloaded an app on the tablet to try to send text messages to a cell phone in another country, it didnt work and she erased it but I think in downloading the app somehow she allowed the app into my contacts. The only thing that makes me doubt is people started getting sales emails about 2 hours after my wife had erased the app... I caught it on time, changed my password and nothing further has happened, as I said Im still not 100% sure if thats how I got hacked... yeah if you wanna know my wife already got punched in da face... word!
Yes, I have before. They simply just go onto ebay, amazon, etc., and do the "forgot password" link, and then retrieve it from the hacked e-mail account. Generally you then have your shit saved onto your account, so they can start buying stuff.
ye I freaked out when it happened I got a new email address changed all my banks and cards to that address and even formatted my computer. The fuckers had maybe 5 miutes to get on my email and try to do shit before I changed everything. I just cant figure out how they got my password just from me opening the email. I didnt click on any link.
i know of 4 people who've been hacked in the last week or so. personally i think facebook is the main reasons people emails get hacked.
They couldn't get your password from you only opening an email. You would have had to type it into a trojan horse page or have a key logger running on your PC (while you logged into messenger or hotmail) for this to happen. What likely happened is that you openned up a popup that had a script on it which did one of the following. 1.Accessed your address book (it could do this because it was using your credentials since you had already logged in) in order to send the email addresses of your contacts to a server. Then the server sent you multiple emails and sent your contacts emails while spoofing your email address (not actually using your email account but only putting your email address in the "From" field which is quite easy to do). If this happened, you would not see the emails that were sent in your "sent" folder. or 2.The script could have itself sent emails from your account programmatically while it was executing (it could do this because any script or program you execute runs under your credentials by default). If this is the case you would see the emails that were sent to your contacts in your "Sent" folder.
Well, the likely purpose of the attack was to get your contacts' email addresses because these (valid email addresses) are valuable to spammers.
Also keep in mind to change your password every now and then, and also your password reset information. A lot of professional "hackers" and "spammers" have databases of hundreds of millions of account and password combinations, and they might not even touch yours for months, making it harder to figure out how they actually got your information. Ive fallen for a few keyloggers in my day and had my entire contact list spammed with Viagra and Cialis ads. Was quite embarrassing. Also, to avoid embarrassment, if any of you use Facebook, make sure you are always logged out when you use it. I was surfing some sketchy porn once for a few hours, and when I checked my Facebook account later, and I had "liked" and commented on some links to hardcore porn inviting all my friends and family to check it out. It was done automatically by a script that ran in the background of one of the sites I was on.
