Anyone ever been involved in a class action lawsuit?

Curious to know if anyone here has ever been involved in one. I currently am and just got a letter telling me its hitting the next stage of the trial. heres the deets:

I used to work for CPI Image Corp. one of its subsidiaries was kiddie kandids, a photo studio inside babies r us. One day early last year the company closed all its McStudios and declared bankruptcy. Since I was on the payroll at the time, im entitled to compensation (something about the WARN Act). Ive looked and read over the document i got and theres no NDA so i can discuss it. Apparently we're all getting 60 days compensation for what our daily rate was.

question is this. Would my daily rate be what my hourly wage was at 8/hrs a day?? I can snap pics of it if anyone is interested.

I'm assuming that would be your daily rate yes. (Keyword: assuming)

This topic seems interesting and it's too bad nobody else has a contribution. However, this 'class action lawsuit' is far from hollywood material lol

WARN act says a company must give you sixty days notice before layoffs. That is where it is coming from. Most likely you will get wages, maybe compensation for other benifits, depending on how the trial goes.

Yes, I once got $15 from JCPenney. They were illegally keeping the information of customers who made purchases with a credit card or something like that.

Yep. I got 10 American dollars from Norton Anti-Virus for some reason. Can't remember why the lawshuit started. I just got an email saying I was involved because I subscribed during the period involved in the lawshuit. It took like 2 minutes to become a part of it, and they sent me a check like 6 months later.

Good luck with the lawshuit. I think I'm meant to be getting some bank fees back some time or something, but I don't know, never paid attention to it.

Yeah, I've received like three payments in Class Action lawsuits. I think the biggest paycheck was $22 (I can't remember if that was the T-Mobile one or the Red Lobster one). The other was like $16. I honestly have forgotten which company the last one came from. It was like $5.23 or some shit.

I was never actively involved in these cases, I just belonged to the worker groups filing the class actions, and randomly got these checks.


*edit* The last one was Microsoft, I think. It had something to do with Xbox Live policy. Anyone help me out? Someone else had to be named.

Yea since I was on employee payroll and 60 days notice wasn't given I'm sure I'll get compensated.

Not a bad chunk of change to fall into IMO. The company just closed ship one day and that was it. Rumors were another company was gonna buy but nothing ever happened
