kinda getting sick of seeing a grown man cry every time before a fight. it reminds me of those judge shows where they give a sob story all the time

I think it's on the UFC they specifically look for sad stories and then ask the fighters direct questions about the subject and exploit their emotions for entertainment value but it is what it is like you said most shows do it

No I love it, the one fighting Greg Hardy has a sob story and the popcorn will be extra salty if he gets KTFO.

Random guy with no backstory gets KTFO = <FookIsThatGuy>
Guy with terminally ill parents trying to put food on table for starving family gets KTFO = <{jackyeah}>

I hate sob stories when watching sports. Goes back to watching Kassim Ouma fights back in the day and having to hear his boy soldier story seven times during the broadcast.

It's becoming like American Idol/X Factor.

Everyone's Mum had cancer or everyone grew up in a bed with 4 brothers.

One thing I don’t understand is how some of these guys are able to eat as well as they do enough to gain muscle, go to an mma gym and train a bunch, and not have a full time job? Like, it’s a pretty expensive thing to train in. I’ve always wondered that while watching shows like this.

If this was 2004, and we were still needing to humanize the fighters for the mainstream and casual viewers, then I'd say yeah, go balls in on the emo promos, but in this day and age, we need savage dudes who say how bad theyre gonna smashier opponent and then go out and do it, not how much you need the money for your dogs lung surgery or some sappy shit.

Yeah I don’t really care about that shit. If fighting is your only chance at making anything of your life than you’re probably a fucking dipshit or retarded.
