After watching Price’s post fight interview and looking at many fighters under the age of 30 as well as considering Conor just turned 30 I’ve come to this conclusion. I am not overly thrilled by the younger fighters in the ufc. The class and prestige of GSP is completely gone with the young guys and I don’t find the mike perry, niko, khabib’s etc likeable. If I was a coach and PR guy and my guy had a shot I would make him get professional speaking courses and learn what class and dignity in athletic means. That with a top skill set will be the next star in MMA.

You gotta pick and choose.

Connor is an amazing talent but i think Ortega, Kevin Lee, Zabit for all example would all give him trouble.

Edit: The fight youre refering to, was a trash

Name me 5 MMA "stars" that were classy and had dignity, because I can easily name you 5 stars who were cocky and arrogant

just give erick silva a few years and you'll see

People said the same shit about GSP's era after the PRIDE/ golden era of Wanderlei and Liddell ended. The same shit about shit about Shogun/ Machida's era after that and Coleman/ Igor's era preceding it. And that dumb wrestlers like Mark Coleman didn't embody the true martial arts spirit like real warriors like Royce Gracie did. You're just getting old. There's young guys out there that see the younger fighters the same way you nostalgically remember your idols.

You'll start noticing male pattern baldness and gray hairs next. You probably already have an achy joint every now and then.

Some of these guys strike me as uneducated, hyper violent and not marketable. Who would want to sponsor a guy like Colby or Niko? Yeah they have some upside being skilled, polarizing and athletic but I want more from a guy I’m gonna hang my fan flag on.

Whittaker, Stipe and DC are classy, if that's your thing.

You’re not wrong with many of your points. I just think comparing the professionalism and class of GSP and many other golden era fighters with new breeds is so contrast. Do these guys have PR guys? Are they educated? Do they just focus on just bleed gods? There’s a gap. A big one.

I'm impressed because they are very skillful and have been able to take advantage of the way MMA has evolved.

However, it's usually not the most interesting to view. Keep range, feint, pop out, very occasionally strike. Cookie cutter styles.

There are exceptions.. .But they are just that - exceptions.

Idk what you expect. Listen to most NFL players or NBA players. Most of the big ones are either carbon copy replicas or cocky as fuck.

I agree. But they seem fee and far between. Robert is a great guy example. Why aren’t coaches trying to get their prospects to communicate like them? There’s only one Conor and maybe some guys like Colby think they can be like him and make 100 mill.

Hah oh man to hold that same level scrutiny to your idols.

Mike Perry saying this? You'd say he's low class and ignorant.

"I have no prejudice against the gays, but I wouldn't train with someone who's gay. I have no malice, I don't take our physical contact as sexual. But what if the gay person has that malice of having physical contact with me, of staying there grappling? I would have no problems having a gay student in my academy, but I would rather not train with him."

But Big Nog? A god damned warrior martial artist of pure honor!
I like what I like and I don’t see certain redeeming qualities with many ufc fighters under the age of 30 in the UFC. Remember Jury’s beating from Cowboy a few years ago? Jury was being arrogant and classesless whuch was part of the reason cowboy toyed with him. I bet many older UFC vets feel the same way I do but don’t want to damage the UFC brand so they stay tip lipped (and arguably professional)

You are seeing the past with rose tinted glasses. Today has plenty of classy champs and back in the day had plenty of D-Bag champs
